Speaking of jersey barriers, NE corner of Rice and Como has them surrounding the old Stahl lanes footprint. Anyone have info on what's going up?
Combination coffee shop and dialysis clinic.
Whenever the coffee shop opens, it won't be Tim Hortons. The franchisee that operated them closed all of them down.
Well, there won't be any coffee shop at the new building, sad to say.

The Sholom Home has finally been purchased and the new owner intends to turn it into ~150 studio and 1br apartments. Should be a good benefit for the surrounding area, although as a member of D10, I expect to see significant pushback due to concerns about traffic and parking.

The old Ecolab building(the Northern one of the Ex-Ecolab complex) will become apartments and a grocery store:

And yes, the buyer and developer is a former convict.

City looks for redevelopment proposal next door to the RiverCentre ramp. They seem a bit overly optimistic, but that might be the right track. (Someone might want to create a thread for this.)

I just gave $20 to the https://yesforsaintpaul.org/ campaign to urge people to vote yes on the organized trash ballot question this November. I may not live there now, but I lived in St. Paul for 7 years and could conceivably live there again. If I do, good god I do not want to shop around for my own hauler.

Next up - city plowing of alleys needs to become a thing - the current system of having to organize with neighbors to get one's alley plowed is even dumber than wild wild west trash collection.

US Bank at Raymond & University is closing and being sold for redevelopment along with the adjacent parcel to the east. Rumor is 'student housing' whatever that means. Big piece of land with the parking lots. Hopefully something with a good street front in this very walkable district. Image

AWESOME. That's definitely the weakest link in what is otherwise my favorite urbanist area of STP.

Student housing ...mean 5-6 stories micro units? with commercial on ground floor and surface parking to support commercial?

Not sure if the historic district height restrictions apply here.

The old pawn shop at 1636 University Avenue West (across the street from Axe-Man Surplus) has been demolished. Does anyone know what's happening there? Maybe it's been mentioned already in this thread or another one...

The striking Mino Oski Ain Dah Yung building is complete and was just profiled in the Strib. It provides 42 housing units and a lot of cultural opportunities for young homeless American Indians.

I caught a view from the train, it's a eye-catching design, hard to miss.

Thank goodness they’re going over there. The 18 hole side is a nightmare. The water towers on the west side leak (a lot) so bad that they didn’t have pipe in a water supply, they just pump out of the ponds on the east side. By the time it leaches over there, the majority of the chlorine has filtered out.

Does anyone know what’s going on at the southwest corner of University and Hampton? It looks like they’re gutting something to rebuild but drove by fast and wasn’t sure.
