Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
I cynically assume CHS is trying to hide something with good PR, much like the 'Plastics Make it Possible' campaign.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
3m doesn't make the products you buy, it makes them better.
I've seen Boeing commercials before
there are a lot of PR commercials/ads out there. this is clearly why chs is doing this. they've realized they have little brand recognition.

CHS being a fortune 100 Ag business is using the naming to get their name out there for more people to know. Get it out there to those who do know their subsidiaries. They also get you as an investor to think about them for your stock portfolio. I'd have to say as diversified as they are that they would have a decent ROI with their dividends. It is a public education/promotion campaign to increase their visibility in the rest of the Midwest. CHS is in a number of states besides Minnesota. But they are HQ here in IGH.
Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
Probably before they spend money on a PR campaign, the should have spent a little money with a branding agency to come up with a name that was at least a tiny bit memorable.
CHS sounds like an obscure bureaucratic department.

GMC, RCA, TWA, GE all notable companies that are are not the government. But yes, They do need some more PR work and they have been doing radio/TV interviews about the naming and about their company. So they are off to the PR races I guess.Probably before they spend money on a PR campaign, the should have spent a little money with a branding agency to come up with a name that was at least a tiny bit memorable.

Very notable defunct companies. If only RCA and TWA had had more PR!
Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
The ones you note also were well known by their full names before they were acronym'ed. That makes a big difference.
A quick glance at their website suggests that CHS doesn't stand for anything...

From their wiki page:
"In 1998, Cenex merged with Harvest States Cooperatives to form Cenex Harvest States.[4]
In 2003, the cooperative changed its legal name to CHS Inc., with Cenex becoming the name of the energy brand."

I am somewhat surprised at the venom directed towards CHS, a farmer's cooperative. I assume people would have been much happier with a well known name like Mosanto or Dupont.

Monsanto field, "Daddy why is the grass so green?" "Oh Timmy it's because of the chemicals made from dead bees and birds!" That's how that would go down. I think people were more confused on what CHS really does and why they bought the rights

Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
I didn't read any venom in the comments, just a collective shrug.
Buying naming rights gets your name out there, but that's only effective if people already have some idea of who you are and what you do.

Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
With the amount of crazy (awesome) antics and promotions at Saints games, I think CHS could build that recognition they're looking for. The variety within CHS is probably an asset with respect to options for promotions. Plus…a farm coop company ties in well with the Farmer's Market next door and the independent and artist coops in the neighborhood.

If only CHS hadn't designed their logo in MS Word 98. Oi.

We're talking about an *independent minor league* team! They also get you as an investor to think about them for your stock portfolio. I'd have to say as diversified as they are that they would have a decent ROI with their dividends. It is a public education/promotion campaign to increase their visibility in the rest of the Midwest.

That's co-owned by Bill Murray and will be in lowertown where young professionals like (stock people)

I would not be surprised to see them become the Twins single A affiliate in a few years. It was reported on this summer. We're talking about an *independent minor league* team! They also get you as an investor to think about them for your stock portfolio. Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark
I just can't see that happening. In addition to the farm team competing for tickets with the big club, the Twins need to draw regionally and that means keeping affiliates out of the metro. They need to keep a presence in far-flung places to maintain a geographically wide fan base.[I would not be surprised to see them become the Twins single A affiliate in a few years.
