6 story mixed-use building planned for the northwest corner of Dale and University. Big Daddy's BBQ will be staying and moving into the new building

article says 2 levels of retail so maybe some sort of mini-mall or food court?

Or perhaps the second floor will be offices? Fred Melo isn't one to mix that up, but maybe it was confusingly described. Glad that Big Daddy's will be a tenant in the new building, but presumably they're not going to operate somewhere when their existing building is demolished.

All told, this project will mean that three of the four corners of University and Dale will have been filled in. Good for the urban feel of the area.

As long as I can still smell Big Daddy's BBQ at 7am when I get on the lightrail, this is great news.

"Construction to begin in March 2019 if financing comes together..."

This is a long way off.

Given NDC, my guess would be some kind of business incubator on the second floor.

Does Big Daddy get to take a year+ vacation then or how does that work?

So they just demolished the 2 buildings where Big Daddy's was. Apparently they won't be reopening in the new building once it's complete, but there might be a worker-owned co-op BBQ place there in it's place.
