The Congress for New Urbanism will be in Saint Paul in 2020, and they are looking for local urbanists to get involved. The planning committee is hosting a happy hour this Thursday (April 11) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dual Citizen Brewing Company in Saint Paul. To register or for more information follow the link:

I’m so glad the conference is going to be here. I’ve been wanting to get involved with this organization for a long time. I’m definitely going to go on Thursday.

I think the CNU happy hour is being rescheduled due to the weather.

Correct! I am a little surprised that there does not seem to be much excitement/enthusiasm about this topic on the forum.

I have been wanting to go to this groups national gathering for at least three years now. So glad it’s going to be right in our backyard

I’m pretty sure I’d try to carve out some of the days to try and attend some sessions.

This seems like the sort of thing someone should also write a blog post for Streets.mn also.

They really should write about this. My skills as a writer are mediocre at best, so I shall leave that to someone more suited to writing.

I am going to try and go to as much of the conference as possible.

For anyone interested, the happy hour is now this Thursday (April 18). Same details as before. See link above.

The event invitation offers some questions to consider beforehand:

1. The theme of the 2020 Congress is the Promise of the Public Realm: Community, Equity, Voice. What does this mean to you?

2. Where do you see urbanism exemplified? This could be a place, policy, person, community, organization, etc.

3. What places or projects would benefit from an injection of New Urbanism?

4. How can we impact or address equity in the conference? What issues are we grappling with and what successes could we show off?
