Preliminary designs have been unveiled for the new Brooklyn Park Library, which will be built at the location of a future Blue Line stop, and across the street from North Hennepin Community College. The building looks quite nice, with a large plaza that will open up toward both the college and light rail line:

The building is being designed by HGA, and construction should start either late 2013 or early 2014.

Undeveloped land proposed to have 98 residential units built as row houses and something called "Flex and Grow" homes. Near 93rd and Regent Avenue.

Neighbors upset about density and traffic.

City council upset the developer is taking advantage of park land credits earned when Edinburgh USA was donated to the city to not include shared green space for the residents.

Aeon to preserve over 800 units as affordable with purchase of Huntington Place. Part of Brooklyn Parks’ large concentration of apartments along Zane Ave.

I learned today that the original developer of Huntington Place is the same that built Concierge (fka Crossroads) in Richfield. Nearly identical complexes of C-shaped buildings, 100% 1BRs. A few years back, Crossroads was sold & rehabbed into mid-market rentals, leading to the displacement of nearly everyone who lived there before. It was all over the news if you missed it (just google Crossroads or Concierge + Richfield).

Looks like they're trying to avoid that up in BP. I'd venture to guess that a decent share of BP residents (especially older white homeowners) are quietly not super thrilled about Aeon coming in, and wish Huntington Place was instead getting Concierge'd. But this a good deal for the current residents of these apartments that won't get displaced en masse.
