I think we all wish that map was 2013 MSP LRT map.

One year old bump/update on this thread: Carbarn addition is underway, the foundation is being laid or is done by now. Running wood body car #1300 (built 1907) for the month of July as well as the steel body PCC car #322 on weekends when two car service is being run.

We rid the Excelsior line this past weekend. The highlight is the carbarn tour where you can see the progress on renovating Winona #10.

Definitely worth the $2.

A streetcar hit a pedestrian today. The pedestrian is gonna be fine, according to MPD. I'm operating tomorrow, so I'll try to find out more.

One of the operators got pinned between two cars last week while trying to couple them together, got injured.

Not sure about this pedestrian accident, haven't seen any news reports on it and the link on the post above is now not active. I would bet this was the same accident, just reported on incorrectly at first.

This winter I walked some of the old ROW of this streetcar route in south Minneapolis and Edina. It would be great to have streetcar service extended to Southdale or Hopkins, but as a potential compromise to save on cost, lessen the worry from residents about noise and other impacts, and assuming the Interlachen Country Club would firmly refuse the streetcar idea since the streetcar ROW goes through their property I thought of using trolleybuses, as in buses powered by overhead wires. I got the idea from my trip in Budapest and enjoyed the ride on their old and new trolleybuses. The trolleybus route would start at Uptown Transit Station, go around Lake Calhoun on East Calhoun Pkwy., follow along the streetcar route to Lake Harriet, and then at some point hop on the old dedicated ROW through South Minneapolis and Edina parallel to 44th Street and then merge onto 44th Street at France Avenue. A separate arterial rapid transit route; ABRT, trolleybus, or streetcar would operate on France Avenue between Southdale, West Lake LRT Station, downtown, and the U of M (basically Route 6U). The trolleybus on 44th would continue west and then turn south on Brookside Avenue to Interlachen Blvd. At Interlachen riders could transfer to Route 46 and the Dan Patch Line (assuming a station would be built there). Then the route goes along Interlachen and Blake Road and meets with the Blake Road LRT Station. From there it takes Excelsior Blvd. to downtown Hopkins. Now the even more ambitious part, using the abandoned Chicago & Northwestern ROW through downtown Hopkins to Minnetonka Blvd. (shared ROW with the trail, similar to the U of M Transitway) and going out to Woodland. Since it's already close to Wayzata might as well go all the way there via County Rd. 101, Eastman Ln., and Lake Street to downtown Wayzata. I know it doesn't have the same vibes as a streetcar but it would be unique and since it's powered by overhead wires people may feel a little more confident in it being reliable and trustworthy than a regular bus.
