Trucks: 2 or 3 Small vs 1 Big Semi ?

Postby WAngell » April 26th, 2017, 7:08 am

Snelling Avenue is a bastardization of residential, schools, retail, and... trucking, much of it from the multi-modal terminal on Pierce-Butler.

Are the trucks a significant problem on Snelling? If so, one option is to send them all down Transfer Road & Cretin Ave to 94. Inefficient but keeps them out of a residential/school/retail area.

Or, would it be better to have 2 or 3 smaller (20' - 26') trucks in place of each 40-45' semi on Snelling (and similar roads)? Would no allowing trucks larger than perhaps a 26' box truck have a very positive impact on Snelling? Would it allow for safer road designs? Would this result in many more smaller trucks which might be just as bad or worse?
