Neat. How many non-stop international flights are there out of MSP now -- 5 or 6?

-Tokyo
-Amsterdam
-Paris
-London
-Frankfurt

Am I missing anything (anything that's overseas at least)?

Well, just on the page before was listed Reykjavik. I assume you mean "intercontinental" flights, because of course we have a lot of international flights operating to Canada, and several operating at least seasonally to Mexico and the Caribbean.

Yes, Reykjavík is seasonal, Amsterdam is usually 3x daily, and Paris was 2x daily last summer. That is it for overseas flights.

I have never yet set foot in the "new" Humphery Terminal. I remember the old one being pretty dreary, with no windows and not enough seats in the waiting area. It looked cheap and uncomfortable.

I've been flying a lot for work lately, and I have to say that I am proud we have such a nice airport -- at least the Lindbergh terminal! I like that our airport is on one level (for the most part), with an easy-to-navigate layout and fairly efficient TSA staff. The mall area is pretty spiffy too.

I can barely remember what the airport used to look like before they remodeled. I've seen the movie "Airport" which was filmed there; at this point the only recognizable part is the roof of the check-in area. Because of the extremely tall parking garages, I no longer quite get the sense of excitement I used to feel when approaching.

Does anyone happen to have any historical photos? I can't seem to find any online, but would love to see the way it used to be.

I haven't been in the main terminal since 2000 (I can't afford to fly any of the airlines from the main terminal), but it's been nice to see the rebuilding and evolution of Humphrey. They finally have real food options other than the convenience store and vending machines.

Delta is retiring the DC-9 from regular service after a final flight from MSP to ATL today, though it may get pressed into service as a replacement a few more times in the future. Here's a USA Today article from late December:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/todayinth ... 6/4217081/

The final two flights were designated DL1965 and DL2014 denoting the years of service.

Anyone been to the G Concourse recently? Almost every seat at every gate has an iPad provided, except for some seating at the periphery. I think these are more recent than the upgraded restaurants.

Nice. My first experience with these was coming back from NYC via LGA. You can order food and drinks and have them delivered right to your seat, play games, get a notification when your flight leaves, and browse the internet.

Wow, that's some landing-fee money that went straight to China.

These were all paid for by OTG, the concessionaire. As I understand it, Delta has a long-term lease (expiring soon) on Concourse G which allows them to negotiate their own concession deals directly.

I don't want to start a thread for Thief River Falls Airport, and I figure most people who would be interested in this would be looking at the MSP thread...

Yesterday a Delta DC-9 was ferried from Atlanta to TVF... Likely will serve some sort of non-flying training function for the technical college, but I don't know any more about its intended purpose. It was the last DC-9 operation flown by Delta Air Lines. (The last revenue flight was a couple weeks ago, MSP-ATL)

I hate Spirit but I love their fares. And if it's cheap to fly to Baltimore I have reason to fly to Baltimore.

Delta to bring back 747-400 service to Tokyo starting May 31st. It will be year round service replacing the 777.

Good to see another big bird flying out of MSP!

Meanwhile, elsewhere:

Cleveland loses United hub.

As a result, United's daily departures from the city will fall from 199 currently to 72 by June.

Ouch. Anybody know, for comparison's sake, how many flights Delta has out of MSP?

Sadly, the United directly flight from Cleveland to MSP will be one of the casualties.
