Owner was trying to sell for awhile, recently just gave up and closed it.

So can we get a Taco Bell back in there?

It was a Taco John's, up in the dome rotunda. I'm shocked places have a hard time surviving this basement space given its' location right across the street from the main campus entrance, along Frat Row, etc.

CPM is opening up an office in the former Dinkytown tattoo.

TCF bank is almost done with their branch next to Blarneys now as well.

I hope that Wells Fargo opens a small branch or at least an atm here soon too.

A place called Numii is going to take over the former Radius leasing "lounge" between the smoke shop and China Express. Dinkytown Tattoo is in the basement of that building.

Looks like it's going to be a restaurant according to page 21 of the Jan. 13th license and consumer services agenda.

I was reminded this weekend that Blue Door Pub is opening in Como SE and wanted to check the details (not sure if it's been posted here?). In looking it up, I found this article with some hilarious neighborhood complaints. People are really nervous that a popular local restaurant is going to drive people to their commercial node.

This is pretty awesome news actually. It has the potential to reestablish the Como commercial node in the minds of the greater Minneapolis area. Might become something less sleepy. Though I hope the focus on neighborhood needs would remain during any reinvestment. Having a hardware store and convenience store there during college was really useful.

Numii has had a lot of interior work lately, I think it's going to be a Vietnamese restaurant according to the permits. Also saw that there were permits pulled for a remodel and new signs for the former Toppers space next to Five Guys. Dinkytown is filling up again.

Wait, are you saying that adding hundreds of residents right in the core of Dinkytown is revitalizing it, instead of killing it as promised?

Huh.

Looks like the restaurant replacing Toppers old space will actually be called Himalayan

Himalayan opened today. Apparently it's a similar model to Naf Naf and Chipotle. And yes, it's the same owners as the one on Lake St.
