I saw that one! I forgot how sexy we were in the 80's! Just a simple wrap dress and feathered hair...

It wasn't so much that it was a mall - it was more of a destination - but I agree - times have changed and people do other things for fun. It was really just about it being a "happening place" ... but I do really need a new decorative windsock.

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/n ... store.html

Apparently CostCo bought a warehouse at 3311 Broadway St. NE on Sept 1st. Say it could fit a CostCo store, which would honestly be great if they could re-use an older industrial building instead of building a whole new store.
There has been zero activity on this site since last year, with the exception of some no trespassing signs going up. Then today.... a For Lease sign

Hearing a little steam about the 416/420 Hennepin spots. Developer owns the 420 site and hopes to close on 416 in the next few weeks. Talk is of a 10 story timber frame (similar T3 building). Retail first floor, loft style apartments above.

We'll see...

This would be very cool and fill in a big gap in the neighborhood. Fingers crossed!

I was hoping we'd see another timber development sooner rather than later.

Me too, and it would be great to see it here, vindicating the decision to shoot down the crappy building proposed here last year.

Anything with substantial height on that parcel is going to look so cool. Triangular buildings that divide the two view corridors seem to be a hallmark of denser cities.

It's just a shame that anyone with a corner loft is going to get a great view of a giant, ill-conceived Holiday station.

Had to comment on that parking lot potentially blocking a future bikeway up California.

Is this the thread where we talked about the parking lot on university and 2nd Ave SE? Looks like they are taking samples. Lots of small segments of the lot were cut out.

420 E. Hennepin, the site that could've been a 1 story retail building, has been sold to Milwaukee developer Fe Equus for $950,000

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/b ... wland.html
Fe Equus discussed a residential and retail project that also includes a slightly bigger site, Rowland said. He said he wasn't aware of the status of any other land acquisitions.
On the June 8th NIEBNA agenda!

While the hewing hotel was being built, our staff officed in Fe Equus' Minneapolis office. I'm pretty sure they're related companies so I'm thinking it'll be a high quality development.

Cracks me up that most of those that signed onto this were businesses that could directly benefit from the additional residents in the area.
