Interesting, that makes 3 new BBQ joints in NE in a very short period. The owners of Eli's are turning the old Legends Bar into a BBQ restaurant as well.

Apparently CostCo bought a warehouse at 3311 Broadway St. NE on Sept 1st. Say it could fit a CostCo store, which would honestly be great if they could re-use an older industrial building instead of building a whole new store.
Costco Business Center opened yesterday.

Proposal would add 155 apartments next to Northeast’s Quarry shopping center
*LOCKED*

Ivy Properties is proposing the project, which he called a 155-unit luxury community in city documents. The Z-shaped building would have 161 underground parking stalls and another 60 surface stalls.

Do we really want to be developing around the Quarry CF and associated freeway ramp CF without a bigger vision for how we can un-screw up the hubris-laden mistakes of the 1960s-1990s?

I was worried about where exactly this site would be situated, but that could be a lot worse (based solely off that screenshot). It's directly across the street from a park. Would definitely be in favor of getting rid of the surface stalls, given the ocean of parking at the far back of the home depot that isn't really used 364 days a year. But I think should be buildable on that site without impacting any longer-term ramp fixes.

Except for the front parking lot along Johnson, this is oriented to the grid, so I think it's mostly fine. Hopefully the Planning Commission pushes back on the surface lots.

This is the definition of a freeway armpit apartment, and I can't for the life of me figure out why you'd want to put a "luxury community" there. But at least it's place in such a way that any fixing of the grid here wouldn't be impacted by this development.

Does anybody really think that fixing the grid in a location like this matters? What are the critical connections that would be restored?

Of all the places to put "luxury", this is not the place... I could see market rate, but who wants to pay premium rates to hear freeway traffic and look at exit and entry ramps all day. I guess being able to walk to Home Depot can garner top dollar?!

This'll be market-rate. Everything that's not subsidized gets called a luxury building in their own planning documents and advertising.

This one is fenced off and a construction trailer is on-site. I'm guessing we'll see demo here soon.

The unit sizes in this are huge compared to what we've been seeing. If the price is comparable to other market rate buildings, I can see the extra 200-300 sf being a draw to live a little farther out.

780sf studios!
2 bed between 1200-1350sf

Way higher than the other new builds lately.

Apparently the City is buying Tom's Style and Tanning on the SE corner of Lowry and Central for redevelopment purposes.

Tom recently passed away and I think this was his wish. Ever since the apartment building that had stood on the corner burned I think he had wanted to see the corner redeveloped, but he didn't have the means to do it himself.

Thank gawd. That corner has looked awful since the fire. The 'garden' has been a disaster.
