Jeff Barnhardt said at Monday's neighborhood meeting that the idea was to have the surface lot for Fresh Thyme integrate with Green 4th to create a large space that could be used for community gatherings. The daycare there has already secured space in another of Barnhardt's buildings nearby.

Even with all the hotels going in around the neighborhood, the extended stay hotel here ought to fill a nice niche. And as much as I'll miss Overflow, I hope it gets Prospect Park a reasonable restaurant with a full bar.

Didn't know what Deep Fried Goodness was, so I looked it up, and now I'm reminded of the horrible horrible building it's in.

Hey, at least they put in some retail, which is more far sighted than many developer are.

The next Prospect Park Lunch in the Park event is scheduled there as kind of a good-bye. Will be sad to see it go.

Overflow is closing this month on the 21st, and are having some sort of event (http://www.overflowespressocafe.com/). They had a survey out earlier soliciting opinions on what they might do next. Chance they may reopen in the area, or maybe expand what they do, or wait it out. I live very close and I am excited to see construction beginning. Having a grocery store in walking distance will be freaking amazing.

I'm looking forward to Fresh Thyme as well. I love Seward Coop but hate biking back up the Franklin hill loaded down with groceries.

Did you hear that the extended-stay hotel has been axed by the developer and that now the number of apartments has been upped to 336?

I'm surprised to hear that. Makes me wonder if we'll see another development soon with a hotel component?

This is another project I'm excited to see move forward; it would be nice to see more of that area just north of University cleaned up and built out.

I think the fact that there is a hotel already going up less that a block away, and the possiblity of a hotel closer to the stadium Village station where the Opus/U of M have that joint land has possible hotelier think that it would not be the best investment. I don't think they have been able to find much interest from hotel operators at this point.

Between the U and the hospitals nearby, there's a solid market for furnished short-term rental, but probably on the lower end of the cost spectrum.

There's a little bit of neighborhood opposition brewing for the 14-story tower, but I don't think it has much traction. I know there's a small group planning to go to the Dec. 7 hearing at the city with the usual concerns--height, density, safety. But the neighborhood and board have been generally very supportive.

If you support what would be a transformational development at this station, you should also make plans to attend the December 7th meeting and speak in support of the project. I will be there!

On the Planning Commission agenda for next week

I think this resolves a lot of the parking issues that the CoW had with this. But they still have no idea how to use materials correctly.

The renderings are making this look really nice, A good variety of materials that still have uniform themes, and don't look overly busy, as well as great contrast in materials that accentuate architectural details where the building meets the street.

I put the new renderings here... apparently I can't embed an image if I created a gallery... oye.

You gotta embedd each image individually, though it might be cool if there's a plugin that would expand an imgur gallery link for you, because how often do we post a bunch of pictures at once here?

Not only do you have to embed each image individually, you have to upload each image to imgur individually. Unless I'm completely blind (possible) once you upload them as a "gallery" there's only an html option for embedding, and no option for embedding each individual image.

*I've embedded images from imgur to the forum before.

Each image still has a url, right click and open the image in a new tab to find it. If you have an account you may be able to view each picture and get the bbcodes to post them, but they're easy to figure out on your own too.

I'll have to learn bbcodes for posting images then, maybe next time! I do have an account, I was hoping for quick and easy.
