I've got some cash somewhere rolling around ;) I'm in. But also let's do the brick too!

Anyone have the full text of that? I copied my comments to the CPC to a MSPBJ reporter.

So, who's going to coordinate this fundraising?

Down to the wire if anyone wants to collect funds and submit an appeal. Clearly it looks like a lot of us will throw money at it, but nobody is stepping up to coordinate it.

Eh, do we have enough money? Looking through the last page, I see $80 worth of people saying how much they're willing to put in, and a few more saying they're in without specifying an amount.

I would gladly pay 10 or so. I am very strongly against it. How much do we need?

I think once someone creates a gofundme, the cash won't be the problem. Someone just needs to do it. Not going to be me.

So we have one yes vote from the neighborhood here. How many no votes from people in the neighborhood?

I assume you're talking about the Holiday on Broadway and I-35W, and the SuperAmerica on Broadway. These look large enough to be viable so they're not likely to close, but can they handle the additional business if the Holiday in question closes?
I don't live in that neighborhood either but I've spent a good deal of time there. It's not the easiest gas station to access with all the traffic from both cars and peds. Honestly I think that's one of the worst uses for that particular site.

They're also applying to extend their operating hours to have the store open 4am-2am seven days a week. That's a good amenity for the neighborhood, at least.

Yes, it is. I frequently find myself in need of a Mtn Dew at 11pm. This will be nice.

Stopped today for gas. I live close by but always avoided the old station. I’ll be back here! Let’s move ahead and get the new restaurant built! Not a huge WC fan, but will be nice to have this all done!

I assume they’ll tear the old Holiday down first and remove gas tanks, etc. Does the new White Castle overlap the old one? Or will they be able to build the new restaurant first then close and remove the old one afterwards?

Looks like the site is configured so that closure won't be necessary, similar to how the Holiday has been done.

This is definitely an amazing waste of space in a prime neighborhood (though my car-dependent friends in the neighborhood are raving about it since it seems the pumps already opened?), but it was nice to see as I was heading past this location recently that they'll at least have a corner entrance at Central/7th. And, like the North Loop location, it will presumably add a new quasi-public restroom facility to the neighborhood.

I used it yesterday. It was... great.

I walk in, bathrooms, drinking fountains on my right, lots of food option and literally 8 feet from the 10. Though Holiday had room for a shelter and didn't build one. I'm still pissed about the White Castle. We really don't need a prime corner to be a white castle parking lot.
