I used a plug -in electric mower (Hedgehog by Black&Decker) by for my Minneapolis yard and it was perfect. Once you have a 'route' with the cord its pretty easy, and quiet! Only mowed over one extension cord in 8 years.

It would be interesting to hear how long reel mower proponents have been reel mowing.
Been reel mowing for over a decade and I still love it! Occasionally if things get too high it's a pain but it's never impossible. It just takes a lot more effort. A short, strong push while letting the reel spin and moving back and forth seems to do the job. It does take a while though.

I've done the reel mower and will not be going back to it. My current gas mower is a hand-me-down, and probably needs a complete overhaul or to be put down. Does anybody have any feedback yet about the new lithium-ion battery mowers? That to me seems like it should be the best of both worlds.
