Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
I've always thought that would be a great way to get extended hours for neighborhood coffee shops that aren't in areas which can support evening/night demand. I can imagine the outcry if something like this was proposed in Mpls neighborhoods south of Lake, where only a handful of restaurants/bars serve liquor.
As for me? I'm onto Fourth Wave Coffee... Kirkland pre-ground coffee, bunn coffeemaker, my couch. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Pre-ground coffee?!? Don't worry, things will pick up for you.
Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
He's drinking it ironically so it's okay.

I'm drinking Kirkland pre-ground right now, suckers! Don't you wish you had some?
Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
I dunno, how does pre-ground irony taste?

Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
I'm guessing Fourth wave is really just irony all the way down anyway.
Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
I made some coffee with some pretty irony water up in the Boundary Waters. It tasted...irony.
Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
Strange how water and temperature and time can make such a difference in taste. I guess coffee is mercurial like that.

So I'ma little surprised to be behind in finding out that peace coffee opened up in the remodeled capella tower and is beautiful. How did it never get to this thread to finally calm all the fears?

Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
I think once it's in Capella next to the StarTribune, it's no longer "third wave."

The new peace coffee is a hardcore lounge. Wow
Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
Since we're having this conversation. Does anyone else find it odd they are opening a "full service" location just upstairs from the first floor one? Seems odd to me. Also, what could they offer upstairs that isn't currently being offered on the first floor? From what I can tell, they pretty much have everything.
Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
I don't consider peace coffee third wave. Even if doing so would prove me right. Although Wedgeguy was really talking about "independent" shops and Peace is definitely that. Guess it was an all cash deal.

Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops
Sounds like the first floor location was doing extremely well. I'm guessing the "quickly grabbing a coffee" and "looking for a place to sit and drink coffee" crowds are different enough to support it.Since we're having this conversation. Third Wave Coffee is dead. Bring on the Fourth Wave!

"It’s hard to introduce Artís without giving away the punchline, so here it is: They roast your beans in front of you to your preference. And if you don’t yet know your preference, they’ll help you get started. “We want to create the fourth wave of coffee,” says Alex Lowe the company’s CEO and one of its three co-founders.
I'm only posting this because I went to school and studied abroad with one of these three guys (middle in the picture).
