Yep, I picked up a suit from Saks too for over 80% off. I only got the pants hemmed, though. I usually go to Sew What in the TCF Building skyway. I've never found reasonable pricing on suit jacket alterations. I once picked up a clearance suit at Marshalls and brought it to a tailor for alterations. after I was quoted twice the price I paid for the suit I just decided to return it.

So rather than alter, I just try to find jackets that fit really well. i'm sure some will say you should always get alterations, though.

Where can a city slicker get some firewood for a backyard firepit? It seems like something I could run up to Welna Ace Hardware and pick up, but maybe not or maybe there's a better place?

With the quarantine on firewood transport in/out of the metro due to EAB, most hardware stores and gas stations have bundles. At least those I frequent do (Diamond Lake Ace and the SA at Cedar and the creek, to name two).

There are also services that will deliver larger quantities at a better price than buying by the bundle. Depending on how much you think you'll use.

I always get mine at Home Depot.

It's next door to Miller Upholstering. I've been in there a couple of times and she has some cool stuff.

Minnehaha Ave., south of Lake, is becoming the second hand hot spot of the city. There are places up and down that stretch too.

Not in Longfellow but Danish Teak Classics is also worth checking out. Room and Board Outlet is another good option to satisfy your contemporary desires.

I think Assez Bon is now Beckon, either way it's cool and right door to Miller Upholstery.
