I'm currently reading through this (ran across it today), and this alternative timeline is fascinating and glorious. It may start out a bit slow at first, but it picks up and draws you in (especially/primarily if you love history).

That's awesome. Thanks for pointing that out. I love stuff like this. I used to play Victoria 2 and find ways to break away and start a separate country out of Minnesota/The Great Lakes.
