Do you enter blocked intersections?

Are you asking is anyone the type of person who "blocks the box"?

Yes. It's the only question one needs to ask to determine if someones soul is good or evil.

Pretty fair test.

Particularly egregious example: I was riding my bike home from work down Portland and at the intersection with 7th street a driver actually enters the intersection from behind the crosswalk after the light turns red and blocks the box. Just wait ya dingus.

It's quite possible that if you someone has been caught blocking the box more than once/decade that they need to reevaluate whether they should be allowed to drive with the rest of civilized humans.

On purpose or accidentally? I've done it once or twice over many many years, entirely by accident and with great shame.

Wait. Let me clarify. Block the crosswalk or the entire intersection? I've never blocked the whole damn thing. No way.

It's some pretty awful embarrassment to be caught in the intersection blocking traffic when the light changes. I was last caught way back when I was a high school age driver.

Certain intersections more than others seem to be ones where drivers just don't give any damn and it happens like a ritual occurrence.

I don't think I've ever done it knowing I would end up blocking the box. I'll admit that I don't always wait until there is a full car space available across the intersection. That is, there has been the occasion where I've judged the flow of traffic such to be pretty certain I'd make it through only to have traffic stop unexpectedly, or someone leaves extra space between them and the car in front etc. and found myself partially blocking. I too am deeply embarrassed when that happens...

EDIT: so in the spirit of the litmus test, I'd say that makes me a 'flawed' person, but not necessarily a terrible one? :)

You want to be good but you've got evil lurking deep inside.

I see buses do it a lot. I smile.

I've tried, but I find it very hard to do with my bike ;)

Except that those buses then block other buses. I know this because I got caught at Hennepin and 7th a few weeks ago for over 10 minutes at that single intersection because buses (and a few cars) continued to block the box.

I see it all the time on Washington around Marquette/2nd/3rd. It's crazy. I also saw a guy block the light rail once, I had to get off my bike and help guide him to back up and then turn into the other lane because he couldn't figure it out for some reason. We need more cops directing traffic downtown.

I NEVER block an intersection, but I have been known to be a dick by driving in front of intersection-blockers once my light turns green, to avoid letting them pull forward and block me further.

Sometimes I accidentally block the crosswalk because I think there's a little room for me, but alas there wouldn't be. I feel super embarrassed and always want to apologize to anyone crossing. This is why I hate to drive downtown.

My favorite are the people who take advantage of the fact that the person with the green light is waiting to enter the intersection until space is available, by turning right on red into the space as soon as it opens up.

This. 1,000 times this. Especially with all of the construction going on.
