Unique Facades/Materials

Postby nBode » November 5th, 2018, 5:34 am

Hi, so the reason I'm starting this is because my brother is taking senior photos and wants to use some unique places in Minneapolis as backdrops. I thought I would poll you all for ideas.

I'm thinking about places like the Dowling Studio at the Guthrie, T3, Lime Apartments, Rapson Hall, US Bank Stadium, Fast Horse/Brunsfield, Mayo Clinic Square (interior), the Bob Dylan or Music murals, the A Mill silos, Aria (interior), Open Book (interior), the B Ramp wind wall, Loring Corners, etc... I'm sure there are many more.

I thought maybe this could spin off into a catalogue of unique spaces/structures in the cities.

Can anyone think of more examples?

Thanks!!

There's that music wall mural at 10th and Marquette - I don't know if anyone's ever had the idea of doing a photoshoot there.

More seriously: the interior of Butler Square is pretty cool, as is the mixture of old hydro infrastructure and WPA footpaths and bridges at Father Hennepin park.

As weird as it sounds, I've seen many people taking photos against the blue panelled wall next to the new Trader Joe's on Chicago at Washington.

Yeah, the Trader Joe's and similarly, the Walker Library are pretty unique facades.

The decorative walls at the new Midtown Greenway substations at Portland and Hiawatha are pretty cool (in my biased opinion), but it might be hard to find an angle to use them as a portrait backdrop.

We watched the scorpion building episode. Pretty cool.
