There's a short 2-block street named Rua Minneápolis, but the buildings along there are only 1-2 stories tall, according to Street View. We're only a block away from Alabama?

Ah, here's the building. Egad, it's on tall chrome-plated stilts!

So let me get this straight.
Minneapolis has a St. Paul Ave,
St. Paul has a St. Paul Ave,
Minneapolis has a Minneapolis Ave,
Sao Paolo has a Minneapolis Ave,
but St. Paul does not have a Minneapolis Ave?

Also, I'm bummed out I did not know about this when I was in Sao Paolo back in March. The street sign would have been a good photo op.

The building is awesome! It's almost like an homage to our glassy/modernness and the ING building without them realizing it lol.

St. Paul not having a 'Minneapolis Avenue' so perfectly illustrates the chip on the shoulder that St. Paul has. Almost as perfectly as Pioneer Press / TwinCities.com not having a Minneapolis section.

Haha they don't, wow. Why did they even bother getting twincites.com if only St. Paul exists?

Nice article about Sao Paulo's mayor Fernando Haddad and his progressive policies.

I'm in Sao Paulo now, and while I wouldn't say it's a beautiful city architecturally, it is vibrant and alive. Great metro system, easy to use (even without knowing much Portuguese), and many bike paths. Traffic is a nightmare in the city, but I am in one of the outlying financial districts which is new construction since 2000's. Nice modern building, lots of glass and height. Small walkable neighborhood to support the lunchtime needs with lots of little restaurants. It's been a fun experience here.
