There is all sorts of terrrifying in that EDITORIAL. Suggesting that it would be better to not educate their daughters so that they would have more children earlier in life is just ugly and regressive. At least he admits that society subsidizes life in the suburbs.

China has very strict land use policies for a reason. If the entire country was developed at Twin Cities densities there would probably be no land for agricultural use. People who are living in centers of first tier cities in China are not working in factories, they are in services and information industries. Secondly, the reason the real estate markets are hot in second and third tier cities is massive public investment to make those places viable beyond low margin factory work.
