There was some sort of meeting about the stadium and the entire midway site tonight, and a lot of good and positive information seems to be coming out of it. Check the Twitter for @imsoccernews for updates and photos of the PowerPoint.

The most notable thing that I saw was that the stadium would be centered vertically at the southernmost portion of the lot and that the entire midway area was going to be a total rebuild,of 12 city blocks.

A pedestrian-oriented 12-block redevelopment, at that.

Interesting, I was for sure that the stadium would be east/west aligned and not north/south like they showed today. Will be interesting to see how they layout the area to the east and west of the stadium. Parking decks or just flat surface parking. Curious also how they will work with the current mall to get rid of it slowly.

I want to hear what the stadium naysayers have to say about this project and what it might mean for this community and a future urban village along the Green line... can a stadium and it's area be done right in an area that does bring economic fortune to the city and area?

Won't find a nay sayer here. This is what I've hoped for in the Midway, since I moved to MPLS 15 years ago. The area has so much potential that it is had not to wish it could evolve into something great. Getting rid of that awful sea of parking and the mall would be the best part of it all.

When is the legislature scheduled to give the green light so we can all (hopefully) breathe a collective sigh of relief?

Probably not until after they see the nine-digit request to upgrade the infrastructure in the area.

Nothing like channel 5 to put a negative spin on yet another project.

Where do you think they got that image? Was that a part of the presentation?

It's part of the city Smartsite plan overlaid with the early stadium ideas. Made in house, likely with a smartphone while sitting on the toilet.

Lolololol at least they used sporting park as their stadium since it seems that's what the inspiration is coming from.

Honestly, I'm having a little bit of trouble focusing on the "content" of that piece. Kolls and his editors (assuming there are any) seem to be taking grammar lessons from Sean Penn.

Also, am I the only one who's not entirely sure how Kolls even has a job?

An open house is planned for January 26th, at least for the broader redevelopment site:

Is it me or does the estimate of $40 million seem kind of steep for a TOD parking ramp?
