Ah, yes. Taken from an angle that the public will never see.

I guess I wasn't paying attention, but I thought this project was going to involve teardown and replacement of the existing Gibson-Nagurski facility, possibly with something besides a 500 foot long blank wall. Oh well, I guess.

1. There is no actual plan to replace the track yet. The idea is to put it in St. Paul, but there is nothing formalized.
So in the news reports they talk about building the replacement track somewhere on East Bank Campus...there are not that many options with space for that?

That will be renovated at a later time. New additions are all on the current track facility and surrounding lots.

Went to use Bierman track for a workout over lunch today since I figured it would probably be dry enough to use, and was confronted with construction fences and a track that's already being chewed up. I assumed they would at least wait until after the spring outdoor track season to start tearing things up, but I appear to have been wrong. Anybody know where the track teams will be practicing once the outdoor season starts?

Actual site work has actually started on this project. They were tearing down the track stadium today.

What a load. And they still don't have a plan for replacing the track, as far as I can tell.

I agree that the lack of a plan for T&F is disappointing, although it seems that this is in part due to the fact that the University's preferred site was blocked for historic preservation reasons, right? It seems like they could start building a track on the St. Paul campus tomorrow, but they'd rather have a location close to the rest of the athletics complex, but at the same time, the obvious locations near 5th Street/6th Street are all being set aside for future research buildings.

Dang it. Clicked on another hack job article by Fat Pat. That guy just never gives up. Always a cheap shot on Pitino. The track complex should just go on the St Paul campus near the golf and soccer facilities. Too bad they just can't tear down those silos and build it by the parking lots near TCF.

I wish they had put a track inside tcf, that would have been the smart thing. Especially since our track program is worth watching since they win stuff.

A track at TCF would separate the fans too far from the playing field. I attended a school with that set up and it is far from ideal.

Are there any plans to connect this new development to the other side of the train tracks with a bridge/walkway?

There's a reason most college football stadia that had a track have since been ripped out and replaced with seats, no new college stadium will be built with a track. Can't sacrifice the space on something that generates very little revenue compared to the prime seats that could be there.

Finally there is a plan for a new T&F facility. Looks like it's gonna be a really tight fit to squeeze everything in that area though...
