Oh, yeah, I vaguely remember doing that last night. Whoops. I guess that's what happens when you drink too many BuzzBallz.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I feel like with some much glass at street-level, this could happen a lot. It doesn't help they have rock right below it in many areas. The Metrodome, as ugly as it was, was built like almost like a fortress in this regard. Very hard to do much damage to the exterior of the building. With the new stadium, an unruly person or persons could do a fair amount of damage easily.
On another note, the exterior LCD screen just had the X-Games Minneapolis logo put up. Not like that was a surprise to anyone.

it would only happen "a lot" if people who want to throw a rock are dumb enough to think every move they make isn't being recorded on cameras. but yea i can see idiots doing this again. the rocks are right there. walking around the exterior i'd hate to slip and fall on all those jagged rocks. landscape architect should've chosen something else on the north and eastern sides. too many hard not enough soft elements.

Maybe it was just the wind. They seem to have some issues with the wind.
Six to eight weeks to replace the pane of glass? I understand that the glass is custom made, but I would hope to god that not every single pane is different. They better lay in a supply of glass, because this is going to happen again.

Well, here we are. No matter if you agreed with the financing or design of the stadium, opening day is here. Personally, I'm excited to get inside this weekend and check it out.

I'll be touring tomorrow at 1PM.
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
This morning they have rope lines blocking the bike path through the plaza.

Gotta say, when you stand at the foot of the pedestrian bridge and look at the stadium towering/hanging over you... It's very impressive.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
For the longest time, I had been torn between going to the open house and waiting for another time, say during one of the State Soccer or Football championships. But today, I decided to see about getting a ticket. I snagged one for Sunday, starting at Noon. Can't wait to actually see what's on the inside of the stadium, not just the inside.
Buildings, what buildings?
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Just got back from it... way too many people. They only let you go through specific areas and huge lines at escalators, some of which weren't functional.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I was watching the live cam earlier. Looked like a massive clusterfuck outside. Is that what it's going to be like for game days??
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
yea the logistics weren't great. had everyone lining up for the metal detectors and then once inside you hit a choke point as they didn't allow people to just roam the concourse. they funneled everyone up to the top level...creating log jam at escalators that weren't working. then another choke point at the top level escalators to make your way down to the main concourse. eventually they got the escalators running.
i'll give them pass as this was the first general public event..but still it was rather poorly planned.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Sooooo, should I even go tomorrow?
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I'd say it's only worth it if you don't plan on going to any events there soon.
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
yea go i mean its a free event. i'll see a lot more and have more time to do at the soccer match next month.Sooooo, should I even go tomorrow?
i was really more interested in the commons park/plaza and the ped bridge. how that all will integrate for events.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I'm here now and it seems like they have it figured out. It's a pretty quick process to get in and wander through the stadium. And they don't herd you anywhere.
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
Good to hear they've got things flowing, I'm also gonna be there at noon tomorrow.
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
It's definitely worth checking out. I enjoyed walking around in it. There were lots of people today, especially during the storm, so it was a little more chaotic than it normally would have been.
Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
FWIW, I got there at five, and they did not run us through metal detectors or check our tickets. Looks like sanity prevailed over security theatre for once.
