Indeed, that parking lot was there for us in good times and in bad.

Of course, always needed a place to park my car after driving in from the burbs. :D

Suppose the real mourning will occur when they rip out the middle portion...

They had an auction or something and sold all the decor right?

I remember seeing signs for it. Looked like they were pulling out metal scraps from the ducts (or other things) when I ran by at 7:30 this morning. Assuming it's just walls and floors left now.

Yep, the auction was a few months ago. I wanted to get a hanging lamp but the prices just got too exorbitant. One of the little lamps was going for $400 to $500.

It looks like I'm the first one to post the amazing site currently at old nyes. Apparently when nyes was built they built there common wall right over the 1961 movie poster that has been exposed after all that time covered up. Pretty amazing after 55 years it's still in decent shape...

I was really excited to see that. I'll post the pics I put on Twitter once I'm on a real computer.

Nye's is balanced on it's foundation and the middle section is being built up. Interesting view now.

It looks like those doors in the back were well below the grade of the parking lot. Anyone know anything about that?

Those might have been back stairs for deliveries like coal or food etc... Wasn't that an alley back there?

The recent imagery (Flyover in Apple Maps, or Satellite view in Google Maps) show the alley right up against the building. But there was a wooden balcony attached to the rear that is no longer there in the current image which would have been obscuring a possible stairs down to the lower level doors.
