Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Shorenstein's done a pretty good job of getting tenants into the building lately, though, so I'm not sure there's cause for alarm just yet.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I hold onto my theory that the market is simply over saturated. Luckily, Brasserie Zentral has already been replaced with Mercury Dining Room and Rail. The Sapor space is being replaced with fast casual salads. Red Rabbit is under construction. I think Jack Links is still opening their restaurant model by next year? Giordano's has been rumored by mnmike to open in the Embassy Suites space. We have a lot of openings coming soon, and unfortunately there have been some big closes too. Isn't that just kind of part of downtown real estate?

So this is wrong. It's Simpl, or whatever, not La Loma. There's a new La Loma going in on the skyway level at Retek

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Ling & Louie's was terrible. That dude needs to stick to the burbs with his restaurants (Rojo too).
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
It was rather suburban, but I think we ate there twice. It was a place I could take my parents. Which is not really a compliment.
Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
So Ling & Louie's is going to be an "upscale" sports bar, so in other words just another overpriced sports bar with 100s of TVs. Seriously, who are the people who actually go to these places? Aren't half of all downtown and Uptown bars "upscale sports bars" already? Yet another reason for why I'll continue to go several blocks south of Nicollet vs walking a few north.

Another more casual food place coming to the North Loop: Rise Bagel Co. Possibly in the old Indigo space?

Yay! They are so much better than the bagel options we currently have.

Do they focus on breakfast or do they do some lunch options as well? Can't wait to have some more casual lunch options.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Have only picked up stuff from them at Farmer's markets, and I think thats really mostly where they've setup shop, but they've only offered Bagels and Cream Cheese. Not to discount what they do offer though, definitely the best bagel in the city. I'd wager to guess they'll offer breakfast and lunch sandwiches much like what Einsteins/Brueggers offers now.Do they focus on breakfast or do they do some lunch options as well? Can't wait to have some more casual lunch options.

This should be the model for any respectable bagel shop looking to serve both breakfast and lunch crowds: http://eatcba.com/

Oh man, I used to live a block from the Armitage location. Anything close to that would be a home run. This should be the model for any respectable bagel shop looking to serve both breakfast and lunch crowds: http://eatcba.com/

Third-wave coffee shop and cafe opening in the old Big Brain Comics space at 1027 Washington Ave. S. Sounds like they will be taking over the adjoining wig shop as well.

Way overdue for the area. Amusing there be dunn brothers, open book and this place right next to each other though. Not much foot traffic over there either.

Dulono's is planning on opening downtown in the former Sawatdee space (118 N 4th St)
Space vacant since 2012 apparently.
