I like the description of the concept - using lighter wood to build taller than the originally planned additional concrete stories - more than the image. Not that I'm in anyway qualified to be a architecture critic, but the things sticking out look unbalanced and out of place and the overall shape and appearance neither speaks to the older base nor sufficiently contrasts from it.
Apparently that's what some architects think our city needs. Remember when BKL thought this would be great for the TCF (801 Marq) site?

Interesting, but not pretty. I did not know the Target Commons building was a 'placeholder' for a larger project like the Pantages Theater building(i.e. columns built to support a a 10+ story building). I guess that's why they didn't initially level it.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.

Since not much is happening lately, I thought I would revive this thread...
I thought it would be great to get the Burj Al Alam tower on the Benson Lot in Mpls. I think it would compliment the AT&T tower with the roof lines. Granted it would only be 750ft, because this is Minneapolis after all. ;)
