[quote="Visualizer"I'd like to see that implemented to the full extent and possibly even replace the current method, or perhaps make them interchangable........you may commence. 8-)
Can be accomplished. Are you a web developer?
No....pretty much the opposite (I get lost on the web)!

I can make the design part happen. But we would also need someone skilled in Mapnik and XML for the back end part to happen.

This may be old news, but wasn't there a proposal for that long parking lot next to RiverWest? What is the deal with that? I thought it was a taller building on the north corner, but could be wrong. Is that all one parcel? Or multiple? What can be built there? Just seems to be the only good land left in that neighborhood.

I figure from the article downtown Minneapolis will reach about 40.000 residents by 2015 ( when all the new residential construction are completed) :D

I'm glad that downtown's been doing well and is positioned to continue doing so. But, in order to get to 70,000 by 2025, which is supposedly the end goal, won't we need to at the least sustain the current pace of development for over 10 years? Is that really possible?

Yes, I agree. 70,000 is unrealistic. I think 50,000 would be a better goal. Even with that you would have to add 2000 new residents per year (from 2015 onward). Still, I think 40,000 will be quite a milestone for our downtown in 2015. There's a sense of a Minneapolis "big city" urban lifestyle that has evolved. It will make us an even more desirable place to live.

Finally starting some restoration work on the Medical Arts Building or are they putting that lovely neon tree back up on the Midwest Bank?

That said, wouldn't it be kinda cool to like...tear down that Walgreen's/Panera and build a plaza of some sort? And then put the Walgreen's in the ground floor of the Renaissance Center? Or is that too far down the mall for Walgreen's/too ugly of a space to put a plaza? Presumably Panera would find a new home easily.

I think the Panera or Walgreen's site would be a great place to put a new REI store. Panera should relocate to its rightful place on the skyway level.

The crane was for hoisting a new cooling tower and centrifugal chiller for the building on 8th and Nicollet.

A tower crane just went up today behind the Walker Art Center. Any idea what it's for?

The Heritage Preservation Commission meeting tomorrow deals with an application for a new-build three-story nightclub on 3rd in the Warehouse District. It'll be built on a parking lot between 1st & 2nd. While there's a decent chance it won't look much better than this, it's still nice to see some gaps filled in. This might be the first complete block in the Warehouse District!

Yeah, I think we've discussed it on here somewhere... It's some sort of venue. I've seen the plans for it, it's ok. fills that lot and I believe is connected to what once was Cafe Brenda?

Another article in the Strib. I swear the journalists look on UrbanMSP for their opinions....
