I'm not a developer and certainly not the developer of this project, but I'd assume that their goal would be to have the shell (incl. walls) substantially completed by winter.
They started most of these project in March , so I would think that by fall they will have it built and just have interior finishing work by the end of fall. Much of the phase one is now exterior finishes and getting the interiors done. THey tend to go up fast with the prefab kits.

The concrete support posts for the underground garage section on the west side are now going up.

Nice!!! That would actually be Phase III then right!? Or are they planning to do those two parcels at the same time?

The center and west blocks were approved as a single project, so the best way to think about it is probably as Phase 2a/2b. One condition of approval is typically that you have to begin construction within one year, or seek an extension from the City. Without anything else planned or in the pipeline for Uptown (after Walkway and LIME open), Elan Phase II is going to be the only game in town. It makes complete sense for them to build out both blocks at the same time.

Cool, good to know!

Makes you wonder what will come next! Especially if everything goes well, for these projects!

I'd think Mozaic Phase II will be on the short list.

Ah, yes, for sure, I was thinking more in terms of residential.

Ah, yes, for sure, I was thinking more in terms of residential.
I'd really like to see a condo tower, something on the order of 20 stories or so. Either of the McDonald's or Cheapo lots is a great place for it. There's _so_ much potential for further development in the area. I hope the developers don't see the market as saturated after all the recent construction.

- Planned Parenthood/ACME Machine block
- Rainbow/Arby's (I love the idea someone had about the Arby's site hosting an architecturally significant building that would be a gateway into Uptown.
- Calhoun Square vacant lot
- YWCA parking ramp
- Bank of the Lakes lots
- Wells Fargo / Sons of Norway parking lot

Beyond that there are lots of smallish parking lots that could take small-scale infill development.

Any guesses as to which of these gets developed first?

I can't wait for the Greenway plaza to extend from Hennepin to Lyndale. I'd use it a lot.

Dont forget the lot behind the Uptown Theater. That could stretch from Lake to Lagoon. Good spot for offices!

That's Mozaic Phase 2 and yes, it will be offices as well as first-floor retail.

No... You're thinking Lagoon Theatre... He's referring to the lot next to Lunds.

I added my comments to the Uptown Projects thread as to not Hijack this one...

That beige in the last photo is very blah. Is that unfinished corner going to be a different color for some contrast?

I see the Limestone, the brown, the beige, the charcoal, the dark metal. And what looks like a wood siding that they have recently started applying to the West building. I'm waiting until it is complete, before I poo poo this building group.

Some of the materials are nice. But ( I hate to say it) the problem with Elan (and Track29) is cement board is used as the dominant exterior material for both these projects. I'm afraid it looks sort of cheap and there is no way to politely tip toe around that fact. Given the use of so much cement board in these projects, so far the architects for Elan seem to be doing a better job of making it integrate with the overall design so it doesn't stand out so much.

yes you are spot on. it's flat and cheap looking. the only saving grace is the addtion of the exterior stone.
