Anyone been by this lately? I'm curious if the Greenway building is starting to look liveable? Should be occupied by October supposedly...
They still have windows to put into the exterior and out side has a lot of finishing work before they can call it close to finished. There maybe a floor or section that will be finished, but that building will be lucky if it is ready by November for occupancy. But there were people living in the first section before balconies were installed in those same units that people were living in, so I guess it depends on what you call inhabitable.bubzki2 wrote:Anyone been by this lately? I have yet to figure out their plan for finishing off the building, same goes for the Lime. Things I would have thought could have or should have been done long ago are still sitting unfinished and other areas that I expected to be some of the last to get done are being worked on now It's not like the sheet rockers or painters are putting the siding on the building or putting windows in place No rhyme or reason in their schedule in my mind.
Perhaps the building(s) is(are) renting out a bit slower than they were expecting? I presume that the worker crews scale their speed commensurate to demand? This project is moving so slowly I wonder if it isn't intentional to a certain extent.
So is the apartment boom done for uptown right now then?
I don't see the point in that. Why prolong the development process if the market was in fact drying up? How would that help? It would make the cost of development increase and it would provide fewer revenues because rents can't start until the building is completed. To me it makes very little sense.
A construction company wouldn't want to work their guys at less than half time. Unless the previous pace involves overtime, there's no good reason to slow it down.
The plus is 98% of the windows are finally in now. Still have way to much exterior work to get done before the snow falls. Balconies need to be hung and or finished off. The corner of the Greenway and Bryant still is black tar paper and nothing with the color has been added. Really disappointed with the Aldrich end of the building as it does face Lyndale and one of the directions of the oncoming Greenway traffic. Not a welcoming sight that makes me want to check it out to rent!
I still have a feeling that cyclists will forever shun this building as it usurped the only safe way to enter Bryant Bicycle Blvd. from the East. It's actually dangerous using the other ramp!

It wasn't as of Sunday but looked like it could be any day now.
I would say that until they get the exterior of the south side complete they will keep it closed. With some siding left to go up near the Bryant street entrance, and balconies that have to be hung yet they will not open until they know they will not have to reclose it again for other work to be completed. With one entrance to the greenway open there is no hury to reopen this until the work with machinery is complete.
According to their Facebook page, the greenway building opened to residents yesterday. I haven't been by lately- is it done now, or are they doing that thing we've seen where a building has residents moving in before it's finished?
The exterior is definitely not done. At lease finish materials wise.
No where near. They have not got the colored tiles even started. There are balconies to still be hung and exterior cement board to be painted. There are sun louvers that still will need to go out. The walkway along the greenway is not yet finished. I would not want to live in a place that was not yet finished and you had to deal with construction every day .
On the other hand, apparently you wouldn't have to put up with all that much work each day, or so it would seem
Do you think they offer construction delay discounts?
As one that lives up a few blocks, they start working at 7 AM or before and they are there as early as 6:30. So if you are not an early riser then you will hate it. Also I doubt you would be getting a discount.
