All of the steel piles along the alley are in. Now that it's being dug up, the site looks small.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.

Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)
I think the poster said that the DEVELOPER was from Minnesota, and may have no clue whatsoever that they are building something similar in Minneapolis. I think that poster made that mention because like many of us, we don't like it when the historic fabric of our city is compromised on the behalf of inconsiderate developers -- in this case, an inconsiderate OUTSIDE developer. The significance of the word "Minnesota" has little to do with our architecture, I don't think. There have been copycat designs in architecture since the beginning of time. I agree it doesn't fit the character of New Orleans, but I really don't want New Orleans architecture imposed on Minneapolis either. And at least someone identifies it as Minnesota type style. I guess the conclusion is the Latitude looks "Minnesotan". Good thing because we live in Minneapolis.

The speed at which this project is moving is awesome. Lots of activity. At noon they were prepping for the concrete pour for the tower crane foundation.

Yes it is moving very fast. Here is a reminder of the current site with the long skyway on the south side of the lot.

are they taking down the skyway, or just tapping into it?
Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)
Will be band aid style like the Lutheran Brotherhood building There will be an entrance on the second floor of the building at the lower end of the skyway.

I don't think I'd seen it mentioned here yet, but there are Doran banners on this site. So glad to see Kelly is getting work even if his Dinkytown hotel is on pause.

Seriously? You make it sound like he's a down-and-out unemployed guy looking for a job. I'm reserving my sympathy for those who actually need it.So glad to see Kelly is getting work even if his Dinkytown hotel is on pause.

I'm not understanding how you got that from FMP's post at all...Seriously? You make it sound like he's a down-and-out unemployed guy looking for a job. I'm reserving my sympathy for those who actually need it.So glad to see Kelly is getting work even if his Dinkytown hotel is on pause.

Sorry, count me into the number of those who ARE confused by your post. Do you mean that it is good that "local" contractors are getting the work versus nationals or...? Maybe you could clarify because I took it the same was as DG and look at any thread and you'll see that we frequently disagree. =^]I think you're reading far too much into my post.
Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)
Walked thru the skyway yesterday above this project. Looks like the have the crane base secured. Also looks like they just filled in this area way back when, as I see a lot of blocks and brick where they are digging up for the underground parking.

I think my post had literally no meaning, other than to say that there are Doran banners on the site. Everything else is just word vomit.
In another interesting note, it looks like somebody took all the "Parking Closed" signs and stuffed them all into a single window in the skyway.

I figured it was a throwaway line but I wasn't sure. It certainly read odd.
Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)
The vertical portion of the crane was fully installed this afternoon.

Wow. Looks like that tower crane isn't going to have to grow itself at all. It's waaaay up there from the very start. Exciting! That block was always such an eyesore.
