Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
I was there. From what I gathered, there was pretty much no opposition to making this a great pedestrian space that prioritizes people over cars.
Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
Hopefully, either way, would be nice if future developments on the south side of the greenway are designed to be pedestrian friendlier on all sides including fronting 29th and the greenway. Maybe 29th could be curbless like the new Nicollet plans to be.

Is that actually the official current plan?I was there. From what I gathered, there was pretty much no opposition to making this a great pedestrian space that prioritizes people over cars.

Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
I hope. I know that Elan Phase 2 is in talks with making a bridge with picnic benches and gardens underneath that would connect to 29th
Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
I don't remember hearing about a new bridge over the greenway. Where did you hear that from?

Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
That bridge, which goes along the north side of the greenway, wouldn't connect to 29th, which goes along the south side of the greenway.
Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
yeah I knew about that bridge, but the mentioning of connecting to 29th was what had me confused

Looks like Nick took a picture of every project he could find, whether they've begun construction or not.

Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
In a weird way I kinda like the jankiness of this street.
Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
The human scale walkability is right across the greenway with the north side promenade. Over 80% of the people who would walk on 29th are coming from the north so they have full access to the promenade. They will rebuild 29th, it will all depend on how much money they will spend to make things pretty!! Considering how nice things are between Lyndale and Bryant on the sidewalk area of 29th. I'd say that there just has to be a few trees planted with a nice standard sidewalk and every one should be able to walk to Uptown and Rainbow with no problems. The Street, not the sidewalks are the major issues on this street. They are potholes and in dire need of rebuilding. Other than behind Rainbow and Acme the sidewalks are functioning very well. They can do bump outs at the end of the blocks so that the on street parking is recessed away from the car lanes. Something that is not true of the Buzza block for sure.
