Logos

Postby Nick » June 4th, 2012, 11:17 am

Someone had mentioned making a new logo on the Minnescraper Facebook page, if anyone has any ideas feel free to post them here. The one we have now may/may not be heavily based on a logo from a few years ago, and we may want to get a new one up as soon as we can.

That was me. Idea input would be greatly appreciated. I have a bunch of ideas myself, but the more input the better. I was planning on doing it over my 3 week summer break from classes in a couple weeks.

I think something involving the 3 gentlemen in the skyline would be appreciated, also a water feature.

I don't have any logo ideas but I do have a large number of photos of the Twin Cities. If the Admins of this site want to use them in any way related to UrbanMSP they are free to do so. They are on my Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40863599@N05/

I am really happy this place exists, the Twin Cities need a site like this.

I think we have a winner, folks. Though it would be nice if it incorporated something from St. Paul. You can't have msp without the sp...

That shade of red looks great with the blue! I do kinda like the way it trails off with the bridge but I guess it would make sense to include St. Paul. Probably the Capitol and two other buildings?

That is exactly what I was thinking last night when putting this together, its needs St.Paul in there too. Ill get some more work in on it tonight and post a revised tomorrow. I just wanted to get this one up and see what reactions I got as far as the feel of the logo. Thanks for the input guys!!!

Wasn't expecting someone to nail it right away but that is great! Just a suggestion, but make sure you test it at significantly smaller size so the lower text, in red, is still readable when we shrink it down to logo size. Besides that, I would be happy to get it uploaded as soon as you have something done tonight or tomorrow. We can always tweak it from there if changes need to be made but that will give you the opportunity to see what it looks like when it's live.

Shawn you probably have Photoshop right? If he does a PNG file (or whatever that thing is where you don't need a background), I wonder if we could screengrab the background from the website template and plop the logo on top? That would look nice

Some of the updated logos I came up with last night. Not real sure how much I like them but I think they will work for now...

How's it looking?

How's "bitchin'" for an answer? Yes, "bitchin'" A common phrase use to express bas-assery that became popular in the mid-90's.

Is that related to the sculptural technique known as bas-relief that became popular in antiquity? :D
