Not that I condone ignoring "Authorized Personnel Only" signs, but the surfacing for the Bluff St. Trail connection is finished. Just needs striping and lights in the tunnel and it'll be complete.

I noticed today that they were advertising the trail on the Stone Arch Bridge. Every couple of feet someone had painted (chalked?) something with stencil that pointed toward the new Bluff Street Trail. Seemed a bit odd. I didn't remember seeing it earlier in the weekend.

I think this will call for a Streets.mn feature. Maybe include a brief video comparison of the before option and after option. Say, with a GoPro mounted cam on a bike helmet?

I'm pretty sure that's a bit of guerilla urbanism since a couple of weeks ago somebody stenciled similar signs all along the "private" service road that goes between the Dinkytown Greenway and Stone Arch.

I could certainly get behind this.

We were walking with Julian today and I counted no less than three cars that blew through stop signs in residential neighborhoods so the poor time-pressed drivers could beat the couple with the stroller and wouldn't have to wait to keep everyone safe.

Sure legalize the moron who blows from a residential street thru a main highway who gets t boned by a semi and blame the semi who was going 30 mph when a bicycle tries to beat it.

Separating bicycle from roads is the only way just like sidewalks for pedestrians. Bikeways for bikes!

And every day going to work I see more bikes risking their life running stop signs or cutting a traffic circle going the wrong way than I see cars running signs or lights.

Does anyone know why the bike trail is closed along the Mississippi River just west of 35W heading towards the Guthrie?

Could be ASG related. They were setting up huge tents in the area over the weekend.

Yeah, it's the Gala. The tents are set up on the paths. I tried riding that way last night but had to detour across the Stone Arch Bridge onto the very dark railroad service trail, where I was nearly ripped apart by a family of snarling raccoons. (In their defense, I almost ran two of them over first.)

Noticed last night that they let cars park in the bike lane on 1st Ave s down between 40th and lake on the weekends. What's up with that? Made me disappointed, upset and confused, all at the same time. Not cool minneapolis.

The tax exempt churches want that taxpayer funded street parking for their parishioners.
