Eric Roper put up a blog post at the Star Tribune showing some of the changes over the years: http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/256914431.html

That is fantastic. Eric Roper is just awesome.

Any ideas for other before/after images he should put together?

Check out above the greenway from Emerson Ave, 2007 versus 2013. Pretty ridiculous how it goes from overgrown empty lots to rows of apartment buildings completed or under construction... Imagine what that'll look like in 2-3 years when everything that is under construction will be completed.

While I'm all in favor of the buildings, we sure did lose a lot of trees along the Greenway.

And I suppose we'll lose a whole lot more with Midtown Rail construction.

At some level, a tree is a tree. But I'm thinking most of what was along the Greenway were mostly scrub trees.

Is there a thing that exists where you can overlay lots of 3D shapes into Google Maps?

If and when they rebuild 29th and build the Greenway rail line you will see a large number of trees that will go away.

Bing Maps

Judging by the projects going on in Downtown Mpls and the signs everywhere for the MLB All-star game. I would say that the Bing maps streetside is pretty new. I would say this past July. Can get some great views of the projects going on downtown.

I noticed that there are some August 2014 street views available along I-94 east of downtown Minneapolis and around the metro (such as Hwy 13 in Prior Lake), and I assume more locations will be uploaded in the near future.

Saw a streetview car along Chicago by the Viking Stadium site last week. Area hasn't seen an update since 2011.

I think your're right about July. I can see myself in the Bing streetside downtown on my bike from when I rode past one of the Bing cars in July.

I concur. Judging by the state of my front yard, that looks about right.

September 2014 Streetview has been uploaded for various parts of the city. (I've seen examples in North Loop and Richfield, so they certainly got around)
