Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park
Re: Eat Street
Finally something that is not trendy and will be well used by all of the neighborhood. Is there another pizza place on Eat Street??

Re: Eat Street
Thank goodness. New York style pizza is grease and sadness. The Morrissey of pizza.
Re: Eat Street
That is more of a grab and go than a good sit down pizzeria. This will be a staple for eat street like the one in the North Loop and the one in the Rossmore on Robert Street in St. Paul. It I hope will end the musical chairs of restaurants that have moved through this space. It will be a landmark like the Black Forest. There's A Slice of New York on 24th and Nicollet. Finally something that is not trendy and will be well used by all of the neighborhood. Oh, totally. I'll still probably eat Slice of New York more often, though. That is more of a grab and go than a good sit down pizzeria. The Nicollet Diner's Facebook page says they're now open 24 hours. Awesome.

Re: Nicollet Avenue in Stevens Square/Loring Park
I would love to see 15th/Nicollet, Ace/Family Dollar building and the empty lot kitty corner redeveloped to really kick start some action along Nicollet there. If both sides of the highway were activated into good use, I could see that as a really awesome place to live. Convenient to downtown and on good transit.
Re: Nicollet Avenue in Stevens Square/Loring Park
Amazing views of downtown/downtown skyline too!! Fingers crossed!! Some action needs to happen along Nicollet South of Grant up to Franklin...
Re: Nicollet Avenue in Stevens Square/Loring Park
There's some demo happening inside 1911 Nicollet, the nondescript building next to the Moonlight Cafe. Anyone know what's going on there?
Re: Nicollet Avenue in Stevens Square/Loring Park
Some work going on in 8 E Franklin (the former C&C Wireless). No idea for what.

A piece of paper on the door identifies it as the future home of ____ Apparel (Premier, Epic, Enormous, something generic). Looking in, it appears they will mostly sell sneakers. Some work going on in 8 E Franklin (the former C&C Wireless). No idea for what.

According to City Pages, Pimento Jamaican Grill (currently only location is in Burnsville Center) will be opening a second location, somewhere on Eat Street. No specifics are known yet.

Oh, that's exciting. I live in the neighborhood, and there isn't much vacancy on Nicollet so I wonder where this would go. I've always wanted something to replace the payday loans at 26th, so I'm optimistically hoping that is the targeted location (probably won't be, but one can dream).
Re: Eat Street
Perhaps they'll go up near the Caribbean restaurant at 27th out of spite.
2616 Nicollet is still vacant, right? That space seems like it would be big enough, though we obviously don't know the scale intended here, and that's about where I'd want to be as a new restaurant opening on Eat Street. There's also 2430, but that's the one that has been purchased (apparently) for a substance abuse outpatient center.
There are a couple open places north of Franklin (technically still Eat Street) too.

I think that's the correct address for them.
They funded their Kickstarter campaign. Sounds like the new space will have a sweet hidden patio.

Re: Eat Street
There is a courtyard behind the building. It's got a few appliances and an abandoned car. Hookers used to go back there to use their needle drugs.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
Re: Eat Street
See, sweet patio!
Re: Nicollet Avenue in Stevens Square/Loring Park
The Nicollet on Franklin & Nicollet is closed until (IIRC) the 17th to "renovate and rebrand." Whatever they do, I hope they remove some of their awnings, given how dark it is inside all day.

Via @StribRoper: Rooftop restaurant dining coming to Eat Street? Proposal for Marissa's Bakery/Grocery on Nicollet Ave.
Not very pretty, but it looks like it might be an addition to the existing building?
