I didn't realize the whole structure was being removed. I suppose the shoddily converted carport couldn't handle another remodel.

Apparently it was torn down on Saturday. Also some Nordeasters aren't too pleased about the whole thing.

I love the one that complained about having to stumble further to get to her car after a night of drinking. God bless America!

Blurb about updated Betty Danger plan from the Northeaster:
Thomas Wassmoen of BKV Group Nov. 21 shared with the Concerned Citizens of Marshall Terrace a new site concept for the proposed Betty Danger’s Country Club at Lowry and Marshall, showing the car wash property incorporated. The ferris wheel revolving patio has been turned, giving more people a better view out over the river. More on-site parking is possible (the diagram shows 43 spots), and the restaurant capacity is now projected about 300. Restaurateur Leslie Bock has an agreement to purchase the car wash, and also plans to rent parking from the liquor store across Lowry. According to a nearby resident, a lot of their concerns about the potential for trash have been addressed. In the drawing, Marshall Street is at the bottom and Lowry Avenue is at the right. There's also a diagram of the new layout on page 8 of this PDF.

Does anyone know what the timeline is for this project, or what needs to be done before they can get to building? I just biked by today partly expecting to see construction happening, but it looks like nothing's going on. Has the project actually gone through the final rounds, or what?

All I can find:
* January 13, 2014 - Public hearing: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/meeting ... S1P-118965
* May 13, 2014 - Liquor license approved: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/meeting ... S1P-118811
* Address and property for project appears to now be 2501, instead of 2519 Marshall St NE, or perhaps both. Both properties are owned by Leslie Bock or her llc, TOO FAST TO DIE LLC (http://gis.co.hennepin.mn.us/property/m ... 2924140018)

* Recent photos, showing the cleared 2519 (new as of last summer, no change since): https://imgur.com/a/mI3or

looks like construction has resumed for this project. although, i'm not sure to what extent - if they're just demolishing the carwash or if they're going to start building the restaurant. either way dirt is moving!

Was by this project today and was surprised that the car wash is somehow being incorporated into this project. The restaurant portion of the project looks to be up but has a ways to go before it is complete. At this point it is a wood shell.Will be next year at the pace that this project is moving.

I do not remember seeing all those renderings then.

I was driving otherwise I would have taken a picture, but they're installing the ferris wheel now. Actually, the whole building is coming along fairly quickly.

Was by on Monday and looking for the Ferris wheel and did not see anything of it. Must have started on Tuesday or Wednesday as there was only dirt where the Ferris wheel is supposed to be located.

Fun writeup in the Strib: http://www.startribune.com/entertainmen ... 49681.html

Sounds like a very fun place, if a little over the top. But that's the point!

Interestingly, the most eye-opening bit in the entire article isn't about the place at all. It's about Bock is tying all her ventures together in a very clever way (emphasis added):
Like nearby Psycho Suzi’s, Betty Danger’s should become a destination restaurant for metro dwellers this summer. Come warmer weather, garage doors will open up the bar and the pastel-hued Garden Room so patrons can roam the different areas. For a buck, a Tiki Tram will shuttle bargoers between Betty’s, Suzi’s and the zombie-themed Donny Dirk’s during the summer surge.
The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.

The ferris wheel opened here today, looks like you get a nice view for 15 or 30 minutes!
