Twin Cities' National and Global Image
Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
Filming has begun for a movie based on the "Wilson" graphic novel (from Daniel Clowes, who did "Ghost World"). Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern are among the big names in the cast. Harrelson was seen at Rock the Garden over the weekend, and there was some filming at the Lowerton Farmer's Market on Monday.
Regarding the flag discussion, the Washington Post points out today that pretty much all state flags are terrible.

I saw today that Conde Nast Traveler rank MPLS 18th in the most Bike Friendly cities in the world. Mostly due to the Grand Round National scenic byways. To me that is only a minor part of why MPLS is one of the best biking cities. The Greenway, Bike ways on streets, and the bike rental system that is set up in this city. IF they only looked deeper we would be further up than 18th! IMO
(edit) Nice to know that I M O has a new automatic definition!!
MPLS was the only US city to get into the top 20 with Montreal being the only other North American city at #20.

What? I had it on good authority that every single Minnesota business was making plans to escape this hellhole for the Dakota utopias!

The problem with being an introvert online is that no one knows you're just hanging out and listening.

The Twin Cities is the fourth-fittest metro, ranked by average Fitbit steps. It's interesting to see how close 3-6th places are. Also, bonus points for calling out the now-defunct Rollerdome as the premier winter workout.

Rofl.
The Hennepin Avenue bridge is there, but the Capella Tower isn't, so this must be about 1990?

1991, maybe 1992. Looks like Dain Rauscher (now RBC) is under construction.

That was a much longer, broader, and more impressive list of Minneapolis/St Paul restaurants than I have ever seen featured in a national outlet. Kudos USA Today.USA Today did a photoblurb on the Twin Cities dining scene:

Turns out that the guy who killed and beheaded that protected lion in Zimbabwe was a dentist in Bloomington. Anyone surprised that he lives in Eden Prairie?
