He didn't like my replies. Anyone else want to back me up on it? Now he is anti green line too.

I dunno, is he important in some way? He is wrong in many ways, but Twitter is a difficult medium to have that conversation with people unwilling to see nuance that isn't their entrenched ideology.

And it feels awkward to chime in on a conversation I'm not following... ;)

Yeah there's so much noise on Twitter, you can't engage all of them. I mean, read his profile, he's not interested in an intellectual debate.

According to his profile, he's a "proud Tea Party guy". Which means that no argument, no matter how logical, will matter...

Very likely, but it could lead to an opportunity to drop nuggets of Strongtowns, or the NewUrbs blog from the American Conservative. Or just walk away when "Agenda 21" is thrown at you.

The LEDs are coming. Mn/DOT has let three contracts to covert virtually every light they maintain to LED. The only exceptions will be the tower and tunnel lights. Also Xcel energy is now offering LED streetlights to cities.
I noticed that 35W from 66th to 46th has been upgraded recently, as has Cedar Avenue/TH 77 through Richfield. Exit ramps remain a mixed bag.

Can't wait to see them on local streets more. Richfield is supposedly starting a pilot this year, but the only city I've noticed that has done a widespread conversion is West St Paul.

Adding to the West Metro Carmaggedon... MN DOT is doing major work on 169 starting in Fall 2016. Part will be closed for 1 year. With major disruptions from 62 in Edina to 55 in Golden Valley.

I see that there is an Open House planned for Wednesday, Aug 19.

I have already seen many complaints that the only other option is Hwy 100 and it is under major construction of it's own. Then once these are done... the SWLRT project will get started (hopefully). It is not a good time to be a commuter in the SW Metro.

My hunch is that TH100 through lanes will be entirely done by then and only bridge work and details are left.

Yah I drove south on 100 this afternoon. I was surprised by the progress. Minnetonka Blvd is up, center barrier is poured, noise walls nearly done and paving too.

MnDOT has stated the intention of having work completed or minimized on routes parallel to 169 (read: 494 and 100) during the 169 closure/reconstruction. It should also be noted that this is the first major work on this stretch of 169 since MnDOT took it over from the county in 1988.

Lots of nearby residents are hoping the bridge over Nine Mile Creek has capacity widened to support three lanes in each direction between the Opus ramps to the Excelsior Blvd ramps and/or gets a sound wall.

Why don't they add a third lane in each direction during this time? A four lane freeway in the middle of a major metro area is ridiculous. It's congested all day long.

Because that costs money, and induces more lane mile consumption?
If anything, 169 should be converted to a tollway that's dynamically priced to ensure free flow.

They're striping continental crosswalks on Washington Ave in the North Loop today. Between these, the buffered bike lanes, and the tall buildings on both sides, it's really becoming a nice street.

The state has a solution to their Hwy 53 'problem' in Virginia MN. A 220M bridge over a quarry-

It could be a stunning landmark for the range, but looks to be a very tall freeway bridge.
