Re: Calhoun Square
A peek inside the old Primebar/Il Gato/Figlios space:

Lights were on, not that it means anything. There's some notes posted on the doors about "contractors make sure work has been approved by ownership" or something to that effect. People's Organic and whatever goes in that space will really liven up the main entrance there at the corner of Hennepin & Lake.
Also, Calhoun Square was positively buzzing this afternoon. There are tons of colorful tables in the concourse now and they were just packed with people drinking their Dogwood, doing homework, etc. It was crazy.

Re: Calhoun Square
Haven't they also started replacing the flooring in part of the mall? I think they ripped out the old carpet and replaced it with cool looking flooring...
Re: Calhoun Square
I was drinking dogwood at a colorful table yesterday!
Re: Calhoun Square
I bought Girl Scout Cookies at Calhoun Square yesterday afternoon! Who else was at Calhoun Square yesterday?

Figlio's/Il Gato/Primebar replacement announced:
Parella, coming in July.
EDIT: A little more information here: http://tcbmag.com/News/Recent-News/2015 ... are-Corner
Apparently some renovation plans are forthcoming for the primary entrance at Lake & Hennepin

Re: Calhoun Square
That bus shelter looks like a great place to get burgled/molested/harassed.

Re: Calhoun Square
The existing one on Hennepin? Or is it significantly altered in the plans? (Haven't reviewed them yet)
Really though it should just be eliminated

"Reconfiguring the current entrance will create a 957 square foot retail space -- Ackerberg said the tenant isn't yet known. The adjacent transit shelter will be downsized, but not eliminated."

Re: Calhoun Square
No I meant the bus stop should just be eliminated entirely. Uptown Transit Center is one block away. If there is anywhere in the system where you can make a case for greater bus stop spacing, it is adjacent to major transit centers and transfer points.

Re: Calhoun Square
Nice. Returning the entrance to the building to it's rightful place (the marquee hooks are still there) and retail where it ought to be.

Re: Calhoun Square
Talk about an easy way to add value to a space! That's a great example of "highest and best use"....of that space.Nice. Returning the entrance to the building to it's rightful place (the marquee hooks are still there) and retail where it ought to be.
Re: Calhoun Square
I think I remember Snyder Drug having a door there though.......I miss Calhoun elementary school though....and uptown lanesNice. Returning the entrance to the building to it's rightful place (the marquee hooks are still there) and retail where it ought to be.

Re: Calhoun Square
Yeah that collage of signs is getting a little tacky. I'm glad they're leasing up the remaining spaces and all, but man...they need to spread that mess out a little bit.Now time for a new sign..
Re: Calhoun Square
It wouldn't be anywhere near as bad without the giant FAMOUS DAVE'S sign. Move that and the whole thing would flow much better.
Re: Calhoun Square
I actually like having that big Calhoun Square sign and the Famous Dave's sign on that corner. It really livens up that corner. I love it.

Re: Calhoun Square
I'd tend to agree. The Calhoun Square sign and Famous Dave's are ok. It's the visual clutter of the rest that I don't like.
I understand why Jimmy Johns and Chiang Mai would want signage at the most prominent street corner, but their entrances are not anywhere near there. Great deal for those individual businesses to have that additional signage, but terrible for the aesthetics of the main entrance. I guess Famous Dave's isn't at that corner either, but the placement and visual interest of their sign is at least better than the rest.
