They removed Junction Flats to get the angle they wanted. That should help out for those who are struggling with the angle of it. Also article,

Looking worse by the day. They aren't even trying to make it cohesive.

At least the ugly part will be blocked if Cuzzys is redeveloped

Grant. In that first picture. Is that brick staged on the sidewalk for the "new edition"?

I think that might be for the interior, but I guess we'll see!

I was stuck in a flying metal tube with my new tablet-laptop for couple hours the other day, and thought it would be a good idea to remove that elevated I-94 ramp and make the reclaimed land into a linear park. And maybe we can build some nice grids around the northern part of North Loop.

Peter Mcglaughlin had mentioned before that removing the viaduct was one of the infrastructure improvements the county was considering funding if the Soccer stadium was built here. It's definitely within the realm of political possibility but it needs some significant momentum to put it on the table.

Ok, I think we all got our shots in destroying David's strange crusade against personal storage. I'm sure he has mostly walked back his position, if not entirely. Let's move on.

This is a pretty ideal location for this type of use. Loud, stinky freeway armit (not going away). Loud, stinky Metro Transit bus facility (not going away...in fact, expanding). I think getting a new building in here, regardless of use, will only help with the future redevelopment of the large building to the south (between 7th Ave and Olson/6th) and maybe someday the Wells Fargo site too. The North Loop Small Area Plan envisioned the entire area southwest of 7th St N remaining industrial. I'll take a modern storage facility over an ugly, vacant cinder block building with barbed wire fencing.
Hey, remember this! Well it looks like construction has started on the site!

Joe Grunnet from DRG was just saying on one of my Facebook posts that there are great plans for these buildings...but didn't expound on that, so I bet we will hear something soon. He must have seen them... Sounds like something good. Also we were talking about how the roads really need to be rebuilt here! I think there are plans in the works to do that?

Yes, rebuilding of 6th Ave N is supposed to happen this year between Be the Match (N 5th St) and the dead end up by Black Sheep (just north of Washington). They'll be improving sidewalks and resurfacing it all in cobblestone. 5th Ave N is also particularly bad, but I don't think there are plans for it. :(

Actual cobblestone? Like that little section of 6th Ave by the east end of the Stone Arch Bridge? Poor cyclists.

Well, there are quite a few cyclists who ride on it now and it's horrible, so I'm guessing they won't mind the improvement.

Here's the link to the project page. It's actually only the 2 blocks between Washington and 4th St that will be pavers.

A new coffee shop opened called "In the Loop Coffee Co." at 708 1st St N.

https://www.facebook.com/Intheloopcoffeeco/

North Loop has gone from 3 coffee places last summer (One on One, Dunn Bros, Corner Coffee)

to 7 (Spyhouse, Bachelor Farmer Cafe, Caribou, In the Loop)

It's a good thing that the mark-up on a cup of coffee is like 80%.

When did that Janine's Coffeehouse close? Was it still around last summer?
