There is a convenience store being built in front of the Cub store on Larpenteur where the old picnic grounds stood. Anyone know of a possible conversion of the Cub store to another brand, given there is another Cub within a mile of the Larpenteur one?

The Larp Cub used to be a Rainbow, which explains why they are so close to each other.

The Larp Cub is a franchise store owned by Jerry's Foods. They will also own the Holiday they are building in the parking lot (Jerry's is a large franchisee of Holiday Stationstores too). Different owners make shopping these stores surprisingly different from one another. That being said, the Har Mar Cub is in the middle of a total renovation and so far all of the upgrades have been really nice.

Tuesday Morning will be closing at the Har Mar location and Excelsior location.
Pretty big blow for a place like Har Mar that already has a lot of vacancies.

Har Mar has a lot of vacancies in terms of storefront count, but most open spaces are small, interior-facing only. In terms of square footage occupied (what with stores like Marshalls, Home Goods, Michael's, Burlington, etc.) they seem to be doing pretty well. The only larger vacancy I can think of would be from Staples... haven't been by lately to see if anything is happening there.

Cub filled in the empty Har Mar Staples with a Cub Liquor Store. Cub is also finishing up a full renovation of the Har Mar Cub, it isn't perfect but it is a big improvement.

Has anybody seen any updates on the big redevelopment project at Roseville?

An update on the project to reimagine the south side of rosedale mall. Dicks is going to be the anchor tenant. At one point it was going to be hotel(s), residential, and a grocery store. I wonder what the new plan is composed of?

EDIT: Bring Me the News has a site rendering. They are just putting a single use BIG BOX back where Herbergers was. Looks like the multi use dream is dead.

The comparison between the rendering and the satellite image is really something. The render implies that the entrance and BigBowl area will be changed. It looks like the Big Bowl restaurant gets lopped off in the rendering, and that the Rosedale entrance is rebuilt more on a diagonal. You can see the entrance to the new food court just north of where the new mall entrance will be.

Nice that there will be 2 entrances to Dicks. I have never heard of a two story Dick's before.

Really? Off the top of my head I can think of two, the one that was formerly Galyans on Wayzata Blvd and 394 near Ridgedale and the one at the intersection of 35W and 494. I'm sure there might be more that I haven't seen too.

I'd imagine that there's the same issue going on that sunk both the Hy-Vee and Lakewinds in Bloomington and why Hy-Vee is now demanding locations big enough so they can also sell things such as women's shoes. Groceries are such a low margain business and the price of eggs notwithstanding, construction inflation is going up so much faster than grocery inflation that it's difficult to find a lease number that works for both the tenant and landlord for new builds.

Big Bowl closed March 19 and everything in that wing is closed or in process of closing.

Big Bowl closing makes me sad - it was a very fun college job and I still love the food.

Makes me sad too. I wonder what their deal was? Not enough business?

This reminds me of a small running joke on a construction podcast I listen too about tree's on building and other things renders add that never end up happening.
