It looks to me like work has started on the World of Beers in the Straus Lofts building.

Awesome! Livening up the south side of Meer's park will really add to the atmosphere of Lowertown. It'd be nice if Lowertown Lofts and/or The Parkside would do something at street level too.

I noticed that the former Glockenspiel has banners in the windows with the words "Vítáme Vás", which is Czech for "We Welcome You". Is that a hint that maybe a Czech restaurant is coming?

Nope. The Czech Ambassador was visiting the CSPS Hall yesterday.

Jimmy Johns in Highland Park is moving to Kenneth and Ford just down the street across from BP, where that little white building is. They wanted their own buildingm and they will have their own lot just off Kenneth. Not sure what will be taking Jimmy John's current location, hopefully Tiffany's expands to make more room!

Oxcarts new rooftop patio looks very nice. I never would've guessed that this ugly parking ramp could have become anything more than an eyesore.

Looks great! Interesting that it has more seating outside than in the actual restaurant.

There was some construction activity inside the World of Beer place as I walked to the LRT stop after work this evening, and the had a sign up directing job applicants to the entrance on 5th.

Schwietz Saloon is for sale on Payne Avenue. The owner fixed it up just a couple years ago and this past year died from stomach cancer. His parents were keeping it open but now its future is unknown. Someone gets to own a piece of Bill Lindeke's Eastside Dive Bar Tour!

I was told Schwietz Saloon on Payne Avenue has a purchase agreement from the people who run the Nook and Shamrock's.

I'm not surprised it's off the market already. That seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I spoke with a guy from World of Beer at the Saints block party and he stated they are hopping for a mid June opening.

"The former Glockenspiel space on the corner of West Seventh Street and Western Avenue in St. Paul will soon become a Mexican bistro run by two well-known Twin Cities chefs."

They're calling a second location. Does Union have a concept other than 'it's the place with a retractable roof?' It's been through like 3 different failing iterations.
