Great, kind of. The Hat-Trick Lounge and Adam's Market are the *only* activity over there after 6pm. Granted a hotel will bring more people but I doubt it will have unique retail spaces. All the surrounding structures don't or physically couldn't support active frontage.

Bravo. How wonderful and cool. Perhaps the hotel will have a bar which will help fill the void of the Top Hat. I couldn't open the article, did they give a timeline as to when they were going to start this?
On a side note, what a great way to keep DTSP office vacancy rates in check, by utilizing these less than ideal for office space buildings.

looks like 1659 Grand Ave was torn down and there's a new development in the works. That building was rough in the 90s, I can't imagine what it was like now.

Sunrise Bank is building a new 57,000 sq.ft. headquarters at 2515 Wabash Ave, just northeast of the interchange of I-94 and MN-280. They're consolidating three locations into this new site. Their current HQ is on University Ave near the State Capitol. Groundbreaking is expected early next month (June).

Ah yes, St. Paul, the city exclusively populated by white people in their 20s. St. Paul has great stuff going on, but this video just chose to highlight all the things Minneapolis already has. I don't need to cross the river to drink beer or eat fish.

Yeah I was surprised they didn't mention Payne Ave and much else.

Even in sepia tone, the Minnesota Wild color scheme manages to be visually appalling.

As a Minneapolis resident, I love to see all these projects in Saint Paul too! It's nice to see, supports businesses in both cities, and all this development near the green line helps keep cars off the roads. Maybe the core cities will be up to a million people (total) in 50 or so years!

I see this as bad news. The logical place for an entrance would be under the building itself. The Endicott Arcade could remain a commercial property for other businesses. It is not logical that they would use the Endicott Arcade as an entrance to the hotel and put different businesses on the first floor at the corner. This means fewer businesses and less activity.

I've searched alot, but I cannot by any means understand the street layout in this part of town, specifically why some streets stop at an intersection and continue a few feet away on the other side of the cross-street. The most notable examples seem to be the east-west streets between Marshall and Summit at Fairview (Selby, Dayton, Laurel, etc.) and north-south streets between Fairview and Snelling at St. Clair (Wheeler, Davern Macalester).

I've heard that it had to do with developers plotting the land individually, and I'd love some info on this strange feature of this strange city we live in.

The streets at St. Clair are wonky just because the St. Paul "Tangletown" was built before most of the stuff around it. That was built in the 1880's-1890's. So the rest of the street grid wasn't there yet. Then the stuff to the south filled in later (1915-1930) and they had more uniform distances between the streets.

I would assume the same on the west side of Fairview. They drop a street (Hague), so that the plots are larger, and then the remaining streets can't line up exactly.

The two single-story buildings on the northeast corner of the University/Victoria intersection have been demolished. I'd assume there is a project slated to replace them - anyone have an idea what will be going there?
