New Theme!
New Theme!
Hey all,
Shawn has been working on a new theme over the past couple days. The idea is to have one, clean, simple theme for the forum that everyone will use. I think the new one looks better than the existing options we have, and now we'll be able to easily work on some of the issues we've had with images displaying differently for different people. Shawn, myself, and some other posters have tried it out and it seems to work fine. We'll still have the mobile version, this would just be for people viewing the site from a computer.
I want to get a few more opinions before I switch it over to the default. It works fine for me in IE and Firefox, Shawn tried it in Chrome, it works in Safari on my phone, etc, but in case there are any other problems I don't want to remove the other options and realize there's a problem.
To switch, just go to the User Control Panel > Board preferences > My board style and then select "New Theme".
Nick

Nice! A neutral grey background would work better for posting images.

Background for the whole site, or just for the background of attached pictures?

Re: New Theme!
For individual posts. I'm thinking #f5f5ff, but maybe I'm just so used to a paler color scheme of another message board. What does everyone else think?

Re: New Theme!
The color seems fine to me.
Regarding navigation, I'm probably just missing the obvious, but is there a way to navigate to the earliest unread post in a thread? That's a nice feature from the old theme that I used a great deal.
I'm only seeing a link to the newest post, which is close, but not quite as helpful.

Re: New Theme!
That's how the mobile theme works, but Frozen Phoenix didn't. I would agree that that would be an improvement.

Re: New Theme!
Not having first unread post is kind of a deal breaker on this theme.
Also, a minor annoyance, but I liked that before I could click on the UrbanMSP logo and get to the main page.

Re: New Theme!
I will work on both of these things - May not get to them in the next 24 hours but they're on the list. The link will be easy - and I'll have to play around some to get a button like that on the new theme but hopefully it wont be too hard.
Re: New Theme!
Umm. Whichever one I was running right before I switched to the new one...
ProSilver, maybe?

Re: New Theme!
I think they both had them, because I used both and I don't ever remember a time I didn't have that function.
Re: New Theme!
Maybe this isn't the feedback that's being asked for here, but could the default for links be that they open in a new window?

Should be an option in your browser preferences.Maybe this isn't the feedback that's being asked for here, but could the default for links be that they open in a new window?

Re: New Theme!
I like the new theme, but an unread post link (as suggested above) is needed. I'm using the mobile theme as a result.

Ignore previous comment; I'm picking nits, so to say

I like it! Nice and clean.

Re: New Theme!
When you mean unread posts, do you mean the "Latest unread post" thing, or just unread posts? It's on the main page.
Anyone have good coding/html/php/css skills and able to help out with pulling the code for the "Latest unread post" from the old theme and adding it to the new theme. I just tried and failed quite a few times. Suggestions or help in this case would be appreciated!
