Cheaper/greasier than Keys? Oh, how I miss Hamline's in Renaissance Square. If you're up for a walk, Band Box in Elliot Park fits the bill.

Isn't Hen House sort of like that (old Peter's Grill space).

I'd love it if we could have an old fashioned eggs and hash browns kinda place downtown. You know, the kind that opens at 5am and closes at 2 with a big flat iron griddle.
Hen House (former Peter's Grill location) opens at 6:30 and makes a pretty fantastic breakfast.

Coming in at number 4 on the list of things that Matt and I vociferously agree on.

I wish they would have taken a street-level spot in MC², and been open into the evening, but I guess they have a street entrance at USBank Plaza and aren't open evenings or weekends anyway.

I was thinking, why is Naf Naf all about being in the skyways? I have friends from Chicago that rave about it. I want to try it but never have the opportunity because I'm never DT during their operating times.

Well the US Bank one is open until 6 and is on the ground floor. But I agree. They need to be in a more exciting part of downtown. The problem is, a lot of restaurants see downtown as an office zone, and not residential. They also dont see Hennepin as a very desirable location, at least not yet.

Inspired by the action of others on this fourm, I contacted them asking if they were interested in opening an Uptown/LynLake/South Minneapolis location and got this response:

"We are currently sourcing this area and hope to bring the Naf Naf love."

As a person who just went down and grabbed Naf Naf from the ground floor of my office building, I'm pretty happy they're in this not-quite-exciting part of downtown.

Some recent things going on in my corner of the skyway...

- I can't believe how long the line for Green + the Grain is every single day. I know they had a good following as a food truck but I haven't had a chance to try it yet because the lines a so crazy. Good for them.

- across LaSalle in the Highland Bank (?) building. The Skyway Bites closed on the 1st of the year. But good news, one of my colleague's family is opening a Thai Restaurant in the space. They operate On's Kitchen on University near the Turf Club in St Paul. I hear only great things and I am excited for it to open soon.

- today I saw a sign in front of the former convenience store / Murphy Dog location that said opening Feb 1. I don't know if it's a combo again, just a conv store, or a restaurant.

Green and grain line is fast. Like 10-15 minutes even when way out the door. They are opening another skyway location as well.

Looks like a new bar is moving into the empty space next to the police station in the warehouse district.
