Any chance they spell the second phase correctly?

They could double down and call it Phaze 2

Well, depending on how the process goes... if the NIMBY and Greenway people get too crazy it might end up being Prozaic :D

Still looks like months of work. Not sure why so slow with this project!

I saw today that there's some blue signage on the top of the building that says "mono".

That should compliment well with the multi-colored cantilevers that are now glowing at night on Flux!

It's an ad agency. I believe they used to be in the Magers and Quinn building.

PhaZe 2wo is heating up y'all.

At the LHENA/Wedge Zoning & Planning Committee meeting on March 13, there was an agenda item "Next Phase Preliminary Update". Seanrichardryan, did you happen to attend that one? I did not.

Anyhoo, Ackerberg is seeking $500,000 in Hennepin County TOD funds for Demolition, site clearing, utilities, public plaza expansion and enhancements, and infrastructure to support bicycle commuters to the Uptown area.

Furthermore:

MoZaic East will replace a surface parking lot with a new building that will include approximately 110,000 SF of Class A office space, 25,000 SF of clinic space, and 25,000 SF of movie theater or retail space. The building is designed to maximize employee access to daylight and reduce shadowing on the Midtown Greenway by stepping the building back as the building height increases. The various floor plate sizes allows for tenant flexibility, which can accommodate both large and small businesses. This also allows for businesses to grow within the building over time. The project team is in discussions with several potential larger tenants who have indicated that they have further interest in the space.

I wonder if that "clinic space" could accommodate Planned Parenthood? That would free up another prime parcel for development.

And on that note, apparently the "movie theater" space could be a potential new home for the Lagoon Theater: http://carag.org/organization/uptown-neighborhood-news/

I didn't realize the Mozaic parcel included the theater...

Somehow that hadn't occurred to me, but yeah that would be ideal. As long as Ackerberg and PP can reach mutually agreeable terms on rent and sale price on the current PP-owned land, that's a win-win. The PP/Acme Machine block is probably destined to become Mozaic Phase 3.

Although I'd greatly prefer that Lagoon Theater stay in business, I don't think it's particularly important that they do so in the existing building (built 1995). If getting a better overall development means that the theater is rebuilt as part of a larger development, then I'm all for it. This would also allow the building to be set further back from the Greenway, which will almost certainly be a hot-button issue as this moves forward. That's great to hear that they are talking to Landmark Theaters about a lease in the new building.

The second phase of this project should help make the first phase look better and less out of scale. The step up design will make it look more interesting and give it a nice relationship with the Greenway. I think it's great the Landmark will remain. This should end up being a good project for Uptown.

Hopefully if they're able to roll the Lagoon into this (as I recall, this was part of the early early MoZaic plans before the Lagoon backed out), they'll be able to better extend the Girard setback through the site.

Giving this thread a bump.

Last I had heard, there was supposedly a meeting a couple months ago- anyone heard anything about this?
