Very cool culture, great food and music. The last time I was there they had Texas sized roads though. They have a similar style viaduct I believe on 35 as we do with 94 near the basilica. They've done a cool job of lighting it at night. Draws you into what would be visually blocked neighborhood.

What's ruining Austin? Not tourists or SXSW, it's the locals. There are too many and no plan.

Had a few drinks in Austin (during the rains) at 2nd St & San Antonio St. These two views are from the same spot.

Looks like atx is getting their very own Nic on 5th! It's good to know flat detailess buildings aren't a regional problem.

Thought I would reactive this thread. Moved here 7 months ago. Overall like it. Weird time to move. Honeymoon period is wearing off, lol. Definite likes and dislikes just like any other city. Traffic sucks, and with the exception of downtown and several neighborhoods, not super walkable. Definitely HOT, but will take the heat and sun over MN winters. Culturally pretty cool - liberal. Does seem like MN does have a larger professional arts community and more cultural venues.

Also - housing is super expensive. Housing still consists mostly of single-family homes, not a lot of condos, etc. Starting to build more. Not even a lot of older apartment stock. The Twin Cities are definitely more "urban" and dense.
