I made the death defying walk to the Rio hotel. From the VooDoo Lounge last Thursday.

Re: Las Vegas
Well looks like the planned rail link between LA and California isn't dead anymore:

Re: Las Vegas
Maybe Brightline can buy up Zip Rail too, since they seem to be the only ones getting these built here.
Re: Las Vegas
As much as I would like to see that happening, I don't see it being likely since they seem to only be interested in routes in between 200 and 300 miles long and Zip Rail is either to short if you just go to Rochester or to long if you want it to extend it to Chicago.

Re: Las Vegas
What about selling the route as Rochester to Duluth via Mpls/St Paul?
Re: Las Vegas
If the folks at brightline ever get interested in a route involving the twin cities, I'm actually willing to bet they might choose a route connecting to Eau Claire or Rochester for two reasons:
The first is based on how the Las Vegas to South California route iirc wasn't one of the routes brightline said they where interested in and I suspect that the only reason they took over is because xpresswest did all of the planning with the only thing missing was funding. Now depending on how much leg work the people at west central Wisconsin put into making their route or if the planning for zip line manages to make some progress again, I can see them being interested.
Secondly I kinda take back what I said earlier about Chicago being a bit to far since in all probability brightline will want a few successful routes under their belt before touching the Midwest and they might be willing to take a gamble on a 400-ish mile route by that point

Re: Las Vegas
It's interesting, but I question how successful it will be running from there as opposed to a more central location. Plus I imagine flights from the LA area to LV aren't too expensive.
