I'll miss Independent for sure....I got lucky there once!
You mean, like, the bartender forgot to charge you for a drink?
Or you didn't get herpes?
Like I said....lucky! 8-)

Nightingale is open now at 26th and Lyndale.

Will the new WSK have a bar? If so, good spot for next UrbanMSP happy hour once it opens?
Nope. This is a fast-casual concept. Think Chipotle or Noodles, but probably with better beer selections. There won't be tap beer or liquor of any kind.

"There will also be a bar. Rob Jones, the cocktail mix-master from Saffron (and Meritage before that), is curating a beer, wine, and sake list."

Hmmm...they definitely downplayed this at the Whittier Alliance meeting when they were requesting a liquor license. LOL. I can't say I blame them!

Still no tap beer...

Wow, I walked by 2 nights ago, and the place was still gutted to the rafters, with bare metal 2x4s for a ceiling and wires hanging down. How are they going to swing a Monday opening? But then, Union suprised me by finishing up so quickly.

They've had pictures on their facebook for a couple of days of it looking nearly complete inside...

Could it be two different places? Republic is going into the old Independent on the second floor of Calhoun Square.

fotoapparatic, do they have a separate facebook for the uptown location? The last picture I see on the Seven Corners page is from Sept 21.

Here is the picture from Sept 21.

Their quote:
"not sure if you heard, but we're opening a 2nd location in Calhoun Square sometime in the next few months or so. here is the latest demo pic. construction starts next week."

Yes, see, that is what it still looks like inside. I guess they just have to enclose above the bar and such, so that won't take too long.

Even if they're working around the clock, Monday still seems like a stretch. There's more to opening a new bar/restaurant than physically building it. Even if it is the 2nd location. Do they have the entire staff hired and trained over at 7 Corners?

Just walked by today to see how things are progressing at the future Republic. In my opinion a Monday opening will be a miricle unless they are planning to work all night. Inside the bar I saw glasses that looked ready to gp and the inside looked close to being ready to go from as far as I could see in. The outside in front of the restraunt looks a mess. Tile floor not yet installed. Lot's of paining that needs to be done.

World Street Kitchen opened today. If not for the abundance of leftovers in my fridge, I'd be eating there right now.

Republic is also open.

A contractor that I work with frequently is renovating these spaces, he said the facades are outstanding, impressive, and edgy!

Will be down the street from me. I can't wait to see what they do with it.

I can see the bar-owner's point of view, but I don't believe for a minute that he doesn't understand that people use his club to buy and sell drugs IN THE OPEN -- I'm not buying it! So to try to sue the city just brings more attention to this club than any of its patrons probably want. I don't get why he's doing it, to be honest (again, assuming that he knows that his place is essentially a street corner with chairs and food).
